This is the perfect teen rom com! One I think I could’ve done with in my teens 🤣🚩
This book wasn’t written for my 30 year old self but it resonated with the teen I once was because it was written well enough that the teenagers actually sounded like teenagers.

I loved that the characters were flawed but growing. I loved the distinction between real red flags and just differences in personality.
It was such a healthy way to view relationships, not only in approaching them but also keeping them! All relationships take some degree of work and watching Poppy and Cam learn that not everything is a red flag and some things just need a little work was great to see. As well as them work through their commitment issues!

Also, special shout out to the supportive friendships and the star of the show - Grandad Stan 🥹

Also, the references to some excellent 90s rom coms. 10 Things I Hate About You is my faveeee and it just gave me all the warm and fuzzies! And this was the perfect mix of that and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days!

THIS BOOK! Dystopia is backkkkkkk

Now this was a chunky read but worth every page. Mystery and forbidden powers, an uprising, a handsome soldier 👀
This book brought it all with twists and turns along the way.

I loved the sci-fi elements to this with a toxin that promotes psychic gifts in those who aren’t immune. I loved Wren who is an incredible character. And the plot (*cough* Cross *cough*)

I cannot wait to see more of this series!!

“It was a fine day for an execution”. This was a great opening line and really set the tone for the book.

I loveeee a pirate book and I love an underdog.
Ximena is someone who does everything “right” and has a strong moral code but it still isn’t enough for her to be “one of them”.

As a pirate hunter, when Gasparilla attacks, she knows this is her opportunity to show everyone once and for all which side she’s on.

The journey wasn’t easy and things start to unravel showing that not everything is as it seems!

I was thoroughly hooked through this one. If you love pirates and adventure, this is for you! However, don’t go in to this on the basis of it being marketed enemies to lovers, it’s a sloooooow burn and that’s not the focus of this book!

I am so behind the times on this one, I’m aware but I was waiting for the paperback and then I just never got around to it? 😂

I wasn’t sure what to expect but this was such a good villain origin story.
You really get into Snow’s head and can understand how he sees what he’s doing as right and just, even if it’s completely misguided.

I loved seeing what the games used to look like and how Snow influenced what the games went on to look like.

We can all agree that Lucy Gray deserved BETTER! Snow was only interested in how the optics benefited himself and what he could squeeze out of all of his relationships. The only people he didn’t have this transactional relationship with seemed to be Tigris and Grandma’am but even then…

Anyway, now I’ve finally read it, I can go and watch it! So we’ll see how much I enjoy the film

This was really fun to read! I loved the concept that as well as having one fated soulmate, you have a soulhate.

I thought Renza was a great FMC and loved how she was firm in her beliefs.
I do think me and the author must have similar brains because I felt like I guessed how it would play out but it was still enjoyable to read.

The ending did leave me wanting though. It all felt like it wrapped up way too quickly and there were bits that felt skipped over.

Love that we have a sapphic alternative to The Hunger Games.
This was a really interesting concept and one that had a ton of potential! I loved the world and would’ve loved more information about it.

I felt that I needed more around the characters though to be invested. Without this, I found that the scenes lacked tension. I just didn’t have a reason to root for any of the characters.

Maybe it’s just me and a case of the right book, wrong time?
