I know Spider-Verse stories are kind of getting repetitive at this point, but I still think they're so fun. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the different re-imaginings of the stories we all know an dlove. In this one, there's a short about Peter Parkedcar. What's not fun about that? This is a compilation of (I think) all of the Edge of Spider-Verse stories, so some of them I had already read before. But it's deifnitely fun to revisit them!

A deep dive into a girl's emotions after her mother's death, a mother who she hadn't talked to in years. This is very much a character driven novel, about learning to move on from abuse and learning to reconnect with family. It's such an emotionally charged story, told in such a short amount of time.

I will say, it was hard to get a read on the setting and I didn't realize Coi wasn't in high school for a good portion of the book. So, I think a little more detail and clarity in that aspect would have helped. But overall, the emotions were strong as were the characters.

This is one of those books that is well-written and really fascinating, that will probably win awards when the youth awards season come around. I enjoyed the way mythology was woven into Theo's story, all done through poetry. It's such an intriguing story, and the illustrations included throughotu are also wonderfully done.

This is definitely more on the literary side of YA fiction, though, which isn't always my cup of tea. If you're interested in novels in verse inspired by Greek mythology, definitely check this one out.

This was adorable! I think it accurately captures what it's like to be in seventh grade, because let's face, seventh grade is almost always terrible. Things are changing, friends go in separate directions, cliques start forming. Misty struggles with this throughout the book, eventually learning to accept her weirdness and find friends who like her exactly the way she is.

The art style also fit well for the story, and I appreciated all of the details included about actually playing football. All in all, a great sports middle grade graphic novel!

Jude is a photographer; Florence is a dancer. They both attend a summer camp for the arts where, at the end of every summer, they have what's called Sunrise Night. A night where the teens have a chance to explore the city, from dusk until dawn. It's there where they first meet and seem to have an instant connection. They open up to each other in a way they haven't to other people.

Instead of keeping in contact outside of summer, they decide to just meet each Sunrise Night and catch up. But each year they come back, they realize there's a connection they can't deny. But do they want to take a chance of bringing that magic into the real world? Or will it be ruined?

Thanks to Quill Tree Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy of Sunrise Nights by Jeff Zentner and Brittany Cavallaro! This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases of the summer, and I'm so happy to say that it met my expectations! It's got those summer romance vibes, but only takes place over the course of three days. It's such an interesting premise, and the duo of Zentner and Cavallaro works so well together.

Both Jude and Florence are struggling with their own issues when they meet each other at camp. Jude is struggling with anxiety and dealing with his parents' divorce. Florence is dealing with a disorder that is causing her to lose her eyesight. We get to see how these things play out over the course of three years, and how they affect both Florence and Jude. I appreciated the care that the authors took in dealing with these issues; also putting the characters emotions at the forefront.

I haven't read a lot of Cavallaro's work, but this book might just make me want to pick up one of her other books. Unsurprisingly, Zentner's writing lends itself to a novel in verse, as his prose is lyrical on its own. They both complement each other so well, and allow both Jude's and Florence's voices to shine through.

There's so much to love about this book, from the romance to the emotions to the adventures that Florence and Jude have. We also get explorations of art and what it means to make art, and the impact that it can have on artists. I seriously loved every moment of this, and I can't wait to own a hard copy.

It's been a while since I read a book with a cliffhanger like that, but man! Now I have to wait anxiously for the next book because I definitely have to know what happens next. The beginning of this book was a little bit bumpy for me, as there are a lot of details in the world that it's a bit difficult to get a handle on. But I was definitely fully immersed by the halfway point.

The characters had pretty good chemistry, and there's a slow burn romance that works really well in tandem with the plot. Though the plot twist is a bit easy to see coming, I found that didn't matter to me. I enjoyed the ride getting there.

I basically listened to this entire book yesterday while I was doing various cleaning things around my apartment, and I am happy to say I loved every second of it. The characters are what will definitely pull you in at the beginning, and this little baseball team will feel like a found family by the end. I don't usually gravitate towards sports books, but this one was free on LibroFM for the month so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm so glad that I did!

I will definitely be on the lookout for books that KT Hoffman writes in the future.

I'm honestly not sure how to feel about this book. The beginning had me hooked; it set up an interesting sibling relationship between Betsey and Ophelia and I was excited to get to explore that. While we do get to explore that, they're not together for a lot of the book, so it's definitely explored in a different way from what I was expecting.

The middle of the book feels like it loses its way a little bit; partly because there are a lot of different storylines introduced. I would have really enjoyed getting to hear more about Ophelia's sisters and other family, but that gets pushed a little to the side.

I will say, if you like pirate adventures, this book has so much of that. And a little bit about curses and family and finding your own way. It's a pretty quick, fun read.

This book has quite a bit going on, which isn't always a bad thing, but I do think it made this book longer than it needed to be. For me, part of it was the pacing; at times, I felt too bogged down by the details that it took away from the main mystery in the plot.

That being said, the cast of characters were well done, and I appreciated the overall message of the book, especially for a teen audience. The relationships and connections Jo makes throughout felt real and authentic, and those are what brought me back to the story.

All in all, not a bad mystery/thriller, but maybe one that moves at a bit slower pace.

Not a bad volume of Spider-Man! You can tell that this is a bit of filler for a larger event coming up, though. I liked the Anti-Venom storylines, though, and the free comic book day issue was fun! Some fun art included throughout as well.
