It's been a while since I read a book with a cliffhanger like that, but man! Now I have to wait anxiously for the next book because I definitely have to know what happens next. The beginning of this book was a little bit bumpy for me, as there are a lot of details in the world that it's a bit difficult to get a handle on. But I was definitely fully immersed by the halfway point.

The characters had pretty good chemistry, and there's a slow burn romance that works really well in tandem with the plot. Though the plot twist is a bit easy to see coming, I found that didn't matter to me. I enjoyed the ride getting there.
