This is the first book I have read in this series but I will definitely be going back to read the other two. I loved this book. The romance was adorable and I loved both Iris and Stevie. Stevie’s anxiety was written so well making her extremely relatable to anyone who struggles with their own anxiety. Her growth was beautiful to read. There are so many great characters with a diverse cast. This book really makes you feel all the emotions. It made me laugh and cry and was just a joy to read. The fake dating was so fun and I loved seeing their friendship bloom. The way Iris was with Stevie made my heart melt. She just knew how to support her with her anxiety as opposed to Stevies friends attempts. The 3rd act conflict was also done perfectly and really added to the story and the character growth instead of just being for some unnecessary drama. I can’t wait to read the others.

I thought this was the first book I’d read from this author but then I discovered she also wrote The Perfect Marriage which I enjoyed. As usual, I read the second book in a series first but I will be going back to read the first one asap. I really enjoyed this book and it has some great characters. I loved Kimberley and the chemistry and tension between her and Sam added some lightness to the hunt for a child killer. The book flows perfectly and I was hooked. I had no idea who the bad guy was and was kept guessing until the explosive and dramatic ending. I hope we get to see more from this duo. I did enjoy this book there is just a lot going on, although it is all tied up nicely and explained at the end. I also thought one of the twists was very obvious and it took the police way too long to work it out which made it a bit unrealistic. However, it’s a great fast-paced read and I wasn’t 100% sure who the bad guy was. I also loved the drama that the extremely wealthy and secretive Caldwell family brought to the story. I also liked the chapters from runaway/missing teen Kirsten's POV. She was pretty badass and I just really felt for her. Even though this is book 2 in the series and I haven’t read book 1 it didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything important. I will probably go back and read book 1 though because I enjoyed Kay’s character and want to get to know her more. I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This is book 2 in a series and I recommend reading them in order to understand Nadine and her backstory. She has a lot of family history that is relevant to this book. You also get to know her and her lovable team better. At the start of the book, I found Nadine a bit whiny and childish but she did get better and more likable as the book went on. I’m also not fully sold on her and Demko’s relationship. However, I do love them as characters. If you love gory murders then this is the book for you. The murders are definitely disturbing but written well. The pace was a bit slow to start with but it soon picks up and sucks you in. I was hooked until the end and I had no idea how Nadine was going to deal with the problem. I wasn’t sure how it was going to end, it definitely kept me guessing.

I’m a fan of Laura Griffin's books but I have to say this wasn’t one of my favourites. I normally love the romance mixed with the police procedural but I didn’t really feel the chemistry in this one. I loved Rowan and her friends but the romance side fell a bit flat. I enjoyed the investigation side although it did feel like it was kind of forgotten at the end. The genealogy element was an interesting addition and there were some great characters. It was an enjoyable read but I prefer the Texas murder files series.

I really enjoyed the previous 2 installments of this series but this one just wasn’t as good. I think I mainly struggled with the fact that the killer is very obvious from the beginning and it’s frustrating that the police can’t seem to work it out. There was also a lot more about the characters' personal lives which took away from the story. I’m also not a fan of the one superhero cop goes off and solves the case on her own trope. That being said this is still a good easy read crime series and I do enjoy the main characters. This one just wasn’t as good as the other two. I would definitely still read any further additions though. I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
