The couple that commits B&E together stays together <3

I am just going to pretend that I didn't read "I guess you can say you found my olive trees," as a spicy euphemism in the final chapters. πŸ˜‚

Otherwise, this one was an absolute delight and my favorite of the series!

I wanted to like this more than I ended up actually liking it.

I'm not sure what it was exactly but these characters just felt very flat compared to Diana Quincy's other books that I've read so far. Maybe because the story was way more centered around the murder mystery plotline? I just didn't feel the chemistry at all between Hanna and Griffin.

I was more interested in Hanna's brother's secret little rendezvous that maybe took up 5 pages in total.

Oh well. I have much higher hopes for the 3rd book in this series!

 Couldn't put this one down!

I love a lady who doesn't actually need a man but deigns to grace him with the pleasure of her company anyways. πŸ’…πŸ»

The premise felt very Bridgerton season 2 (Shonda's version obv.) and once I started, I couldn't stop!

Lilah has a clandestine one night stand with an attractive stranger only to realize later that he is the Duke that is to be married to her step daughter? And now they must both act like they haven't met and are not completely drawn to one another?? The drama! I loved it.

(also, I love Lilah's brother already and cannot wait to get to his book)

There is just something so satisfying when authors mix light fantasy with the sinister nature of the faerie folk.

The Folk of the Air trilogy, An Enchantment of Ravens, and Silver in the Wood are other examples that do this really well.

These characters are delightful. Emily is an autistic coded, grumpy academic which just pairs so nicely with Wendell; a charming mash up of Cardan Greenbriar and Howel. I loved their interactions.

I am interested to see how this series progresses.

 Fucking Jessica πŸ˜‚

I devoured this book! I am absolutely giddy over the fact that this will be a lot of romance readers first foray into omegaverse.

Sweet and oh so spicy! Joe Arden is a masterpiece on the audiobook 😘

Talia never disappoints. This was the exactly what I needed it to be- an ooey gooey, steamy, Christmasy good time.

I love a big, broody tattooed man who says he wants something casual and then also does this:

"Even though he’d asked for her number and done nothing with it but text her cute dog pictures. Even though they were sitting outside his mother’s house right now."

Also, I will forgive the multiple HP reference jump scares because this was written in 2017.

Charming and flirty and heartbreaking and lovely all at once. ❀️πŸ₯²

I feel like Ashley Poston's romances are not for everyone but they are most certainly for me. I adore the way she weaves in just a touch of the magical. It really give the story such warmth and a little bit of whimsy.

The way she also discusses grief and the loss of a loved one really hits home- it's relatable and devastating but there is a catharsis that comes with the sadness as well.

I loved The Dead Romantics. I loved this one even more and I am so excited after reading the blurb for her upcoming book in 2024 (A Novel Love Story) because I have no doubt that I'll love that one too.

4.5 ⭐

Everything about this book is so immersive and thoughtfully executed. It is a combination of dragons & keepers, fascinating magic systems, and beautiful folklore that comes together in celebration of indigenous/queer/poly resistance to settler colonialism.

All of the characters were well crafted and intentional. I found that even the characters I was prone to disliking still had these wonderful little moments that were really defining. (I haven't quite loved a side character the way that I loved Sander since Markel from A Strange & Stubborn Endurance earlier this year.)

I am eager to see where this series goes.
