Everything about this book is so immersive and thoughtfully executed. It is a combination of dragons & keepers, fascinating magic systems, and beautiful folklore that comes together in celebration of indigenous/queer/poly resistance to settler colonialism.
All of the characters were well crafted and intentional. I found that even the characters I was prone to disliking still had these wonderful little moments that were really defining. (I haven't quite loved a side character the way that I loved Sander since Markel from A Strange & Stubborn Endurance earlier this year.)
I am eager to see where this series goes.
