Every story needs its Monters.
This was hell of a ride. I am sad that the series is over but also pretty satisfied with how it ended. The climax killed me and pretty much breathed life in me again. It was such a edge of the seat experience. I was living for those mini heart attacks that we have grown to expect from this dynamic duo of amazing writers. I can even read the grocery list if it's written by these two lol.
GEMINA is my favorite book in the series followed by the illuminae files. This book is everything one could ask for from a concluding book, but it wasn't the best. It didn't have any flaw other than that the plot was a little predictable.
AIDAN is everything. Is the life and soul of this book. I love him so much. He always has such great and deep things to say. I didn't care much about the new cast mainly cos I was super pumped about Kady and Hannah working together. And the bromance between Nik and Ezra was everything. Loved the two together.
This is easily one of my favorite sci-fi series ever. Highly recommend! .

OMG! like seruously OMG. I am completely blown away and still in the awe of this extremely well crafted world. I just can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. The A.I - AIDAN - is easily my favourite character in the book. I just love his sense of humor and his philosophical, metaphorical way of shedding light on the matters at hand. Jay Kristoff is such a genius. i dont think any author can reach his level in terms of world building and character development (not even Leigh burdugo). I read his book nevernight and it was equally great.
In short this book is porn for sci-fi lovers and should be read a million times.

rating bumped to 5 stars.
I read this book last year but somehow i just can't seem to get it out of my head. it is so beautifully disturbing.
OMG! What the hell was this? I am still turning pages, still hoping to find answers. Seriously, this book was disturbing. I had thought the ending would provide some solace to my disturbed mind, but it just made me even more confused and terrified. But it doesn't reduce my love for this book, it had me engrossed from the very first page and I just couldn't put it down.
The book has two timeline: past and present.
In past we meet this young girl Malorie, recently divorced and pregnant in a world that is going crazy. Her sister, who Malorie is living with, is the one, who have an epiphany that something stranger then they could ever imagine is going out there. People all over the world are losing their shit. They just seems to be going crazy and committing horrific murders of people around them and killing themselves. Self-immolation and HaraKiri are the words people reffering this incidents with. It's believed that all of this weirdness started in Russia and trickle down its way into United states. At first everyone thinks that these incidents are unrelated but later they start to see the connection. Alot of theories starts to come up, the most common one being that something or someone is out their that people see before losing their mind. The fear of the unknown aggravates so much that people starts walking around with blinds folds on, keeping their doors closed and windows covered so they can't see outside.
Malorie, to safe her unborn child, heads for the safe house that she learned about from a newspaper. At the safe house she meets 4 people with limited food and supplies trying to survive in the new world. She expected that these people will have the answers but they had nothing they could tell her.
"They are like infinity, it seems. Something too complex for us to comprehend."
"Our minds have ceilings, Malorie, these things... they are beyond it."
The present is set four years later. Malorie is still in the safe house, preparing to embark on journey with two kids by her side. The rest of the people aren't there, she is alone. She is desparate to reach somewhere, like this is her only hope. She has been training her kids for years for this very journey.
"your children are smarter than you."
Will she survive? Will she ever get the answer she's been looking for?
For me this book was like giant metaphor. We all are wearing a blindfold, we refuse to look outside and face the reality. We believe what media and people wants us to believe because going against a popular opinion will get us labelled as a rebellion; it will make people to hate us. Not doing what we truely believe in, is what makes us go crazy.
We fear the unknown, we dislike uncertainties and hence we fear going against the norms that we know shouldn't have been there in the first place. We fear others; we fear people like us and they fear us.
"Man is the creature he fears."

Cutest thing i have read in a while. It was so beautiful. Ari was relatable. Not having someone who gets you, really suck. I am feeling so lonely now.
I have never read anything more boring than this. This book wasn't for me. Reading this felt like a chore that I had no motivation of performing but I was doing it anyway. I don't want to see this book ever again. This is going straight to my donation box.
Predictable but pretty engrossing.
I really enjoyed the story and protagonist's part in it. Everything was great except for the ending. It was anticlimactic for me. I didn't like how the story ended for our lead. It felt like author had lost interest in the character that he had created and didn't know what to do with him. However, I'd still recommend it. It was a nice, fun read.

"Notes on a nervous planet" is a follow up to Matt Haig's book "Reasons to stay alive", which is a gem and a great companion for those who have suffered or are suffering from anxiety and depression.
Matt haig's writing is simple and relatable and hits right in the feels.
This book aims to familiarize readers with the flipside of being connected to the internet 24/7. The paradox of this world is that we are more connected than ever but we have never felt this alone before. We have forgotten what real relationships and bonds feel like. When we go online we not only share information, but we also share our emotions and fears. All of this accumulates and cause world wide panic attack. We are living in an era of collective anxiety and depression. So what we can do to stay sane in a world that is slowly losing its sanity? Matt Haig has shared very thought provoking ideas to answer this question. Decluttering of mind konMari style is one of them. There is an excess of everything and we are overloaded with options. We spend most of our lives choosing. Choosing the right toothpaste, right car, right medicine and so on. we are lost to the point where we don't even know anymore what's important to us and what's not. We are living our lives in circles not once sitting down with an introspective view to evaluate the real reason behind our actions.
Matt Haig rightly said: "it sometimes feels like we have temporarily solved the problem of scarcity and replaced it with the problem of excess."
Matt Haig tackle issues that we face in our daily lives. From sleep deprivation to addictions to unhealthy lifestyles and habits of the digital world and provide suggestions, if not solutions, on how to overcome and conquer. He beautifully deconstructs the world we live in and provide valuable insights on how we can be kinder to ourselves and to the world around us.
I can't recommend this book enough. Do read it and do read his previous book Reasons to stay alive.

Despite the fact that major portion of this book was a boring lesson in history and contributed almost nothing to the story, I still think this book was worth it. It has got unique plot, great characters, intricated and complex world that will keep you at the edge of your seat.
I loved how progressively the predicament of our main character was built until it died down with a dissappointing final act. It wasn't all that bad but it was rushed, in my opnion. If the author had taken more time in developing the ending like she did in writing the historical parts of the book that served no greater purpose, I would have appreciated the book more.
Anyway, I still think it's a great sci-fi book and worth checking out

Beautifully documented life of Henrietta Lacks. Hats off to Rebecca Skloot for introducing us to a woman who is saving lives even today after so many years of her death.
This book is a journey where we not only learn about the contributions henrietta's cells (HeLa) have made in revolutionizing science, but we also learn about her and everyone else she touched during her life. It's a first science book I have read that hasn't undermined or neglected the emotional side of the story. Lackses and their struggle in coming to terms with henrietta's death and dealing with myriad of problems her immortal cells brought was exquisitely described. It's not very often that a science book leaves you so emotionally drained. Rebecca's commitment to familiarize the world with science behind cell culture is admirable. Science part was pretty easy to grasp even for someone with no prior knowledge. All in all it was very informative and has left me with the curiosity to research more about cell cultures and henrietta.

Hello, Future wifey! Can we please read these stories to our kids?
This book brought peculiar world, that we know and love, to life. It's a compilation of fables and myths based around the peculiar world. If you love peculiar world then you are definitely going to enjoy these tales about the peculiars.
I like how this book gives us an impression that these stories have been passed down orally for years and have gone through so many alternation that it has become nearly impossible to judge which version of the story is real, like our own myths and folklores. Reading different versions of the same story adds to the reading the experience. It somehow makes the stories seem more real and believable.
There was not one story in this book that I didn't like. Every story in this is book was a masterpiece. Like most fairytales, these stories tried to teach a lesson but it was subtle. Some of the stories went to pretty dark places and i really i really enjoyed it.
My favorite story was about the girl who could tame the nightmares. It was extremely fascinating and original. I also liked the story about the first Ymbryne and the story about the cocobolo island. Last story was about the giant, Cuthbert, that had played an important role in the Hollow City. it's kind of a book that would like to read again and again.
Overall this was an amazing read. I love peculiardom, and I can't wait for Miss peregrine's trilogy part 2.
