Beautifully documented life of Henrietta Lacks. Hats off to Rebecca Skloot for introducing us to a woman who is saving lives even today after so many years of her death.

This book is a journey where we not only learn about the contributions henrietta's cells (HeLa) have made in revolutionizing science, but we also learn about her and everyone else she touched during her life. It's a first science book I have read that hasn't undermined or neglected the emotional side of the story. Lackses and their struggle in coming to terms with henrietta's death and dealing with myriad of problems her immortal cells brought was exquisitely described. It's not very often that a science book leaves you so emotionally drained. Rebecca's commitment to familiarize the world with science behind cell culture is admirable. Science part was pretty easy to grasp even for someone with no prior knowledge. All in all it was very informative and has left me with the curiosity to research more about cell cultures and henrietta.
