Okay, I’m going to be completely honest with you all, this book is naughty. Borderline erotica. Don’t let the cutesy cover fool you. However, i found myself covered in goosebumps and crying at my local Starbucks when I finished this book. The love story between Georgie and Travis is so pure and I couldn’t help but give it five stars. I needed a change of scene from the usual thrillers I’ve been reading and this was a perfect pick.
This novel had a very interesting format - told mostly as a transcription of a podcast - but it worked for the type of story it was. I would love to read more books surrounding “true crime”-esque fiction in this format. It was a quick one and only took me one day to finish, but the story itself is enthralling and I recommend adding this one to your list!
I have read so many creepy books this year and I was excited to get my hands on this one! The plot was captivating and I could not put it down because I needed to know all the answers. I only gave this novel four stars though because I kept seeing reviewers say that this was the scariest book they had ever read. I was really hoping to be frightened by this one, but alas I was disappointed in that area. Maybe I’m just desensitized to horrific stories at this point due to my love of thrillers and all things true crime? Recommend this story to all of you who love creepy reads!
This story is unapologetically Scottish in regards to word choice. Being a relatively short novel, it should have only taken a few days to read, but the Scottish colloquialisms made it difficult for me to process what was occurring. I never really got into the story, as I found both of our main characters Manuel and Watts uninteresting and unlikeable and do not recommend this reading this one. The story is not worth the effort needed to understand what the heck is going on.
I stayed up until four in the morning reading this book in one sitting. Oh, how I fell in love with the romance story line in this suspenseful novel. Without giving away any spoilers, let’s just say I was very pleased with how this novel turned out for those involved in that part of the story. Also, this story probably has the best written characters in any of the books I have read this year (Translation: I want to date Nick, the Scottish spy). Highly recommend checking this one out!
My favorite read of 2019 thus far. A breathtaking story of the fictional movie star Evelyn Hugo and her many secrets. Highly recommend adding this one to your reading list.
I feel like I would’ve given this one 5 stars if I hadn’t already read Taylor Jenkins-Reid’s other book, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I know what she is capable of writing and this just wasn’t as good! It was a great book, but I think my expectations were too high.
While this story was a little cheesy at times, I absolutely adored it. Ben and Fallon’s story is unique, to say the least, as they learn about each other’s darkest secrets and insecurities over a handful of years. They save each other from their inner demons and find out what it means to practice love and forgiveness.
I decided to give this one three stars because I was intrigued enough to finish the novel, but it took every ounce of motivation to get there. Not the greatest thriller I’ve read this year due to seemingly boring plot until the last 50 pages and I wouldn’t recommend this one if you are looking to get into Rader-Day’s work. I enjoyed her other novel Little Pretty Things much more and would point any interested readers to that one instead.
Yeah, so this one wasn’t my favorite, to put it lightly. I really was put off by Millie and her decision to basically catfish Reid, her supposed best friend, throughout almost the entire book. It was weird and really inappropriate. Because of Millie’s behavior, I really couldn’t enjoy this book. Many people have suggested Lauren’s books to me, but after this one, I’m not sure I want to continue with any of her other pieces.
