It’s been a year since Dash & Lily met and starting dating because of their book of dares. Lily has gone through a stressful year with her grandfather suffering a heart attack. Lily isn’t feeling the Christmas spirit and isn’t present with the ones she loves, so Dash steps in to bring cheer to Lily.
I read Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares about eight years ago and just recently found out there were more books. I requested the book in December 2020 and just finally got it from the library in January 2021, so a little late for a Christmas book-oh well. I loved Book of Dares a lot as a 17 year old. This book, I really hated at first and wanted to dnf. Lily was so immature and selfish. It was a turn off. I pushed myself and found the second half to be better and cute. I don’t know if I will read the third book. We shall see.

Sixty days. Either make peace or there will be war. Harper, Rhen, Lia Mara, and Grey must prepare for war and for estranged relationships. Will they all survive even though some of them are enemies?
This has to be my favorite out of the trilogy. I like how all four characters have point of views in the book compared to two characters. I love the magic and the relationships. The action was great. The ending felt like there were loose ends, so I’m hoping a spin off or something happens.

Bree is sixteen and wants to enroll in Early College at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her mother does not want to attend for unknown reasons. This makes Bree mad and she doesn’t speak to her mother. Her mother ends up getting in a hit and run accident and perishes. Fast forward a few months later, Bree is attending UNC-Chapel Hill with her best friend Alice. She is grieving the lost of her mother. However, while at UNC-Chapel Hill, she discovers a secret society of Arthur and the Round Table and believes that they were involved with her mother’s death, so she befriends Nick and infiltrates the society to find out what really happen to her mother. Will she get sucked in? What will she find out about them and herself? Will she fall in love on the way too?
Legendborn is grief and empowerment. It deals with racism and gender. It’s a beautiful story of grieving and finding yourself through trials. I really enjoyed Bree as a character. She’s strong and feisty. I enjoyed the romance. The world building was well done and very interesting. I really look forward to the sequel.

Erin is a hostess for a ski resort in France and the Snoop company is having a retreat there and they are thinking of doing a buy out or not. Liz used to work at Snoop, but she is a 2% shareholder and is supposed to offer her vote on if she supports the buyout or not. Snoop is a company that allows people to listen to music at the same time. When they get to the resort and get going, four people end up dead. Which one out of them is the killer and what is their motive?
One By One was a great read and reminded me of The Hunting Party. It was suspenseful and I liked finding out why the killer killed. The killer was very obvious though. Also, I thought Snoop was a silly idea. Anyway, it was a good read and I love anything by Ruth Ware.

DNF. I just couldn’t with this book. The writing was very boring and stiff in my opinion. I thought it had an interesting concept of August’s sister, who is an American Heiress being arranged to marry a Duke in England who is in financial ruin, but August and the Duke end up falling in love. When I thought of picking up the book I was filled with dread and it would take me a while to read a page and this book is only 294 pages! I’m really saddened this is my first dnf of 2021.
Anthony’s father died at the age of 38 when Anthony was only 18. His father dies of a bee sting. He believes he will not make it pass 38 years old and vows to not fall in love with his wife and that his wife will not fall in love with him so she will not hurt when he dies young. This year Anthony decides he will finally marry and he will marry the diamond of the ball named Edwina. However, Edwina will only marry with her older sisters approval. Kate doesn’t approve of Anthony and thinks he is a horrible rake and rogue. Will Kate ever approve or will there be something between them?
I loved this book. My favorite moments where the storm in the library and Pall Mall. Those made the book. I loved the enemies to lover trope and loved the banter between Anthony and Kate. This book was just adorable and so good. I can’t wait to read more of these books.

I listened to The Faithless Crow on audiobook like I did with The Merciful Crow. I found the story to be a bit confusing and hard to follow. I wished I read these books in print format. Still a good book though.
Deka has never fit in her village. At age 16, she needs to go through the Rite of Purity to see if she bleeds red or gold. If she bleeds gold, then she is impure and the Death Mandate will be enforced. She prays she will bleed red and be pure. From there she will find a husband and live happily ever after. However, on the day of the Rite, an attack happens and she bleeds gold. She is dragged to a cell is killed in different ways, but always comes back alive. A woman that is a stranger comes to her and offers for Deka to either stay or come with her to serve in a special army of girls who bleed gold to defeat Deathshriekers. What will she choose? What secrets will she discover?
The Gilded Ones is definitely unique. It focuses on sisterhood and finding your own strength as a woman. I did get a little annoyed with Deka going back and forth on how she felt with the Deathshriekers. Overall it was a great and fast read.

Mac receives a page of her sister’s diary that she has been looking for. She wants to know who sent it and what they want. Evil is lurking. Mac and Jericho are still looking for a powerful book that corrupts anyone who touches it. On Halloween night there is a chance of the realms collapsing and letting more evil in. What can Mac do?
I really am loving Mac’s character arc and her growth. She isn’t super immature anymore and is becoming more badass by the book. I find these books to be a fast and fun read. I loved getting to know more lore about the Fae. Can’t wait to read more of these books.

Lover Revealed is Butch O’Neal’s book who we meet in Dark Lover as a cop who gets kicked off the police force for police brutality. He ends up finding out about the brotherhood and ends up joining them. On his first night finding out about the brotherhood, he meets Marissa, a beautiful vampire maiden. This is their novel.
I liked Butch’s journey from book one until now with this book. I even liked Marissa’s growth throughout this book. I did find both characters to be whiny and indecisive a lot throughout this book. There was a lot of misunderstandings and pettiness between the characters. These things made this book one of the books I didn’t really like out of this series.
