Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
5.0

Bree is sixteen and wants to enroll in Early College at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her mother does not want to attend for unknown reasons. This makes Bree mad and she doesn’t speak to her mother. Her mother ends up getting in a hit and run accident and perishes. Fast forward a few months later, Bree is attending UNC-Chapel Hill with her best friend Alice. She is grieving the lost of her mother. However, while at UNC-Chapel Hill, she discovers a secret society of Arthur and the Round Table and believes that they were involved with her mother’s death, so she befriends Nick and infiltrates the society to find out what really happen to her mother. Will she get sucked in? What will she find out about them and herself? Will she fall in love on the way too?
Legendborn is grief and empowerment. It deals with racism and gender. It’s a beautiful story of grieving and finding yourself through trials. I really enjoyed Bree as a character. She’s strong and feisty. I enjoyed the romance. The world building was well done and very interesting. I really look forward to the sequel.
