Waller offers a strong argument for the cause behind the dancing mania of 1518. A fascinating read about a forgotten period of history.

This novel started out excellently and was full of promise. The plot relied on convenient happenings, as the story progressed we were told and not shown events, the ending of the book felt rushed and incomplete. Edugyan is a brilliant writer and I loved her descriptions. The story needed a bit of tweaking to get a better rating.

A quick read. I felt that the format of snippets was strange.

Review to come

This was such an interesting read about the history of budgies. It also includes how these parakeets are aiding scientific research and featured famous budgies. This book mainly focuses on England and Australia. It would have been nice to learn more about how budgerigars are kept in other parts of the world.

Recommended for budgie owners and lovers of these charming little creatures.

I wish Austen finished The Watsons. I was hooked most for that fragment.

This is an absolutely brilliant book. The references to the various cultures in modern day Brooklyn was very rich and colourful. The poetry throughout the story was beautiful. A great story, that I plan to revisit again in the future.

However, as a Pride and Prejudice retelling, it felt at times that this aspect of the story was really under developed, particularly towards the end. The main character, Zuri, didn't seem to really have much character development. The book felt like it ended a bit abruptly. I would have loved to have a couple more chapters. Due to this I couldn't give the book a full 5 stars.

Regardless of this, I would say this has been my favourite P&P retelling. Highly recommended.

Milkman is like marmite. You either love it or you hate. Unfortunately, I fall in the latter group. Well, 'hate' is a strong word. It's more that I disliked this book. I found the rambling narrative of "middle sister" to be really annoying. The book could have been a lot better if big sections were cut out.

I thought that the way characters were not named was very creative. It created the sense of fear during the Troubles. Knowing a person's name gives power to someone.

Sadly, this book just didn't speak to me.

As much as I enjoyed reading this book; I was a little disappointed. Anne is not really Anne anymore. She was so determined and ambitious before she got married. Now she seems to have thrown away her dreams and just wants children instead. I was hoping Anne would at least keep up her writing since she could no longer work.

I loved Montgomery's writing as always. The new side characters were really likable, bar one. I would have loved to seen more of Captain Jim! This is very much a comfort read.

An absolutely stunning novel. My favourite of this year's so far.
