I loved this! My first book by R H Hall and I was pleasantly surprised. This one had me guessing til the end . You were invested from the start and it was easy to stay intrigued as the story progressed. I was able to feel in tune with the characters so much I wanted to reach through the screen and tell her Mom to get her act together! I look forward to more reads by this author!
I wanted a little more elaboration for the last part of the story . I feel like that would have made this a solid 5 for me but it came in more like a 4.5 for me . I adored how real the characters were . Story was a little fluffy / wordy in a few of the backstory parts but most everything became relevant in the end . I hope this author puts out more to read .
Unexpected find
This was a random dollar store book find but I was pleasantly surprised. Even I was unsure of my guess of the killer until the end which is rare. Pace was a tiny bit slower than some thrillers but not a drag . The characters were all very realistic and great in the small town setting portrayed. The side story of the two main investigators was a great balance against the darker crimes being described.

First and foremost ,thank you to the author and publishers for the ARC . I am pleased to have had the opportunity to read and review.
Emma Dues has done a wonderful job with “Return to Midnight”. The story follows a former ballerina as she revisits her former college town and the home where a massacre stole the lives of her closest friends. Unfortunately, her return threatens to bring long buried secrets and the nightmares of the murders bubbling to the surface.
The plot of this book and it's ties with the dance world had my interested peaked from the start. Personally I feel that the first 20% or so is a bit of a slow burn but the pace picks up from there and the details are worth it end the end .The author weaves seamlessly between past and present timelines. At points you may want to shake the characters in frustration but it just adds to the tension. Speaking of tension, this story is a true who dun it and keeps you on your toes til the end. Every time you think you've guessed the truth new information emerges and has you questioning it all again.
Overall, I think this is a great debut novel. The authors style of writing is easy to follow and enjoy. I look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.

A great option for a summer read . The nostalgic summer camp vibes throughout the book make you feel light and warm throughout the story . The way the author address the intricacies of the deaf community and the struggles of life with a disability is perfect. This story has equal parts happiness and heartbreak . As a reader , you watch the main character struggle to find herself while she’s trapped between two worlds of which neither fully accepts her . I think this is a great read especially for anyone hoping to gain insight or better empathize with anyone with a disability. I would highly recommend this story especially to YA ages who can sometimes be quick to alienate or otherwise make things hard for anyone who is different than themselves.
**The one scene will absolutely rip your heart out because it is unfortunately so real and probable .

A deep reflection into the world of grief . I am once again amazed at Kathleen Glasgow’s ability to address such heavy topics in a way that is suitable for the masses. This book takes on the many variables that come with death such as guilt, financial stress, planning , secrets being unearthed and unexpected life adjustments . I think the authors statements about the foster system are an unfortunate reality and a much needed reminder of the work that needs to be done . Personally I enjoy this authors shorter chapters and writing style but as I’ve said before I will acknowledge that it is not likely to be for everyone . I’m not sure if I will finish the third book in this collection as the subject matter is a lot to intake when you’ve lived some of the scenarios portrayed.
This was such a great read. A book full of grief, fear, betrayal and the deep love of a mother . I was on the edge of my seat for the entire second half of this book. So glad this was recommended to me .
This is a book that makes you absolutely want to shake the characters in frustration. The writing is okay but the story was just a bit flat and predictable for me .
Not at all what expected but it was wonderful . Each chapter brought a new darkness or twist to reconcile as you put the pieces together. The characters personalities are described so vividly you can truly picture each of them . I did have a little bit of letdown at the end that kept me from rating 5 stars but it is a personal preference.
What a heartbreaking tale. I know that this particular work is fiction but the scenarios in which these characters were living are unfortunately very real. I have so much appreciation and admiration for the strength for those who endure life in war torn countries and even those who are lucky enough to make it out. This book provoked so many feelings as you process the grief, fear, anger and desperation alongside the characters . Simply put this is an excellent read that more people should read . I think so many people could gain more empathy for others .
