I really wanted to love this book but I just could not get into the story . While I can appreciate that the characters are fairly well written and the book even had a few interesting moments, it was moments not the overall story. A few of the major deterrents for me were the extremely long chapters (I’m talking hour long or more) and the overall lack of a true plot or story . The majority of the book is simply character ramblings ,internal monologues or stream of consciousness with no apparent purpose. The primary male character is not only physically and emotionally abusive but is portrayed in violent CSA multiple times throughout the story . Between the SA, DV , racism and misogyny in the book it’s hard to find an intriguing story. Also , why are all the main female characters referred to as strong or brave when they literally take abuse and allow themselves , despite being the only magically gifted people, to be walked all over at every single turn. The authors writing in general was decent but without the strong theme and plot the beauty of the words was lost .

Many thanks to the author, publishers, and NetGalley for the advance copy.

If you are looking for a dark, twisty, or high-intensity thriller, this will not be for you. This is a thriller that features a little bit of a more quirky vibe. The author's writing style is easy to read and keeps your attention. I loved the jump into the story early on & the book maintained a fairly quick pace throughout part one. Part two has a slightly slower pace as it focuses on detail building but is still enjoyable. Fortunately, part three returns to a quicker pace as events unfold. While seasoned thriller readers will likely guess the twists, it is still really fun to read them.

This is definitely a story whose main character will drive you nuts. Hannah is a 30 something who is feeling a bit behind and spiraling fast. You watch her make many poor decisions and lose herself throughout the story as she lusts after the ultimate bad boy, a potential serial killer. As for William, you see so much of him through Hannahs's psychosis that you can't truly decide how to feel for most of the story.

All in all this was such a read and fresh take on a thriller. I could easily see there being a second book or movie.

Where do I even start? Alyssa Cole once again reaches an impressive level of storytelling that fully immerses you every step of the way! Intense is an understatement but wow. The pace of this novel is perfect a slow build that draws you into an edge-of-your-seat race to the end.

I was nervous about how a story involving DID and a person's multiple personalities/ personas would translate into writing but I was genuinely impressed with the ease of flow between personalities without confusion. Each character is well written and their traits are clearly identifiable at each transition.

Once again Cole’s thriller addresses the hard-hitting topics, I.e. Racism, politics, pandemic life and mental health crises, with equal parts sass and eloquence. I cannot wait to reading more of her writing. I look forward to gifting this and suggesting it to friends and family.

Thank you to NetGalley, Alyssa Cole William Morrow & Harper Collins publishing for allowing me to read a copy of this amazing novel in advance .

I am a sucker for a therapy-themed thriller and thankfully this did not disappoint. If you enjoyed The Silent Patient, you will likely love this too.

While I did end up guessing the twist, I still questioned myself til the very last moment. Overall the pace of this book was great and kept me intrigued. There was a little bit of a drop in interest towards the last 20-30ish percent but that was mostly due to a lot happening quickly and without as much detail. I would have loved to have seen maybe a dip in detail in the middle and an expansion on the ending happening.

This was a bit gorier than some thrillers but not to a point that made it tough to palate for me. I enjoyed the detail provided to help build the character's overall level of psychosis. Some topics can be triggering to read about such as religion, demons, CSA, mutilation, and suicide/self-harm so it may not be for all audiences.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and SA Falk for the advanced read opportunity. I will be looking into The Patient’s Secret as well to see more of this author.

I’m not sure where to even start with this book. Overall I ended up really liking it . The writing style might not be for everyone but it works.

This book explores multiple timelines for an array of characters who have found themselves trapped in a hostage situation after a bank robbery goes wrong. While you work to figure out the robber and their motivations with police you also explore each hostage and their motivations in life.

This book makes a great commentary on the ins and outs of depression, grief, divorce , guilt and societal pressures. It also explores the six degrees of separation and how we are all an interconnected species.

This book was great . I’m not always sure how YA will play out but this one was good.

If you love Criminal Minds, Scorpion or Nancy Drew this is probably for you. The writing is great for reaching and engaging a variety of audiences and keeping you connected with the story.

The authors ability to so clearly build each character was amazing . I did not guess the big twist either which is saying a lot. I look forward to continuing the series in the future.

Kennedy Ryan impresses once again!

I was so excited to explore Soledad’s story after the first book.

Soledad’s story was simultaneously heartbreaking and empowering. The journey through betrayal , heartbreak, and rediscovery of herself is so real. Her ability to parent amongst the tension and grief she feels while maintaining neutrality with her children was amazing . The tension and love are written so beautifully.

I’m glad that Soledad’s book was less “spicy” than Yasmen’s because it felt truer to her character .

I can’t wait to see the story for Hendrix

First and foremost many thanks to NetGalley, Harper Collins Publishing and Sarina Bowen for the advanced copy of this book.

I am not usually a super fan of domestic thrillers but this book was incredible . The pacing was perfectly timed to keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat . You get all of the suspense and mystery played out alongside a heartbreaking love affair. I will say this played a bit more to the romance side than some domestic thrillers but it was still great. The social commentary on advancing technology and the ethical implications surrounding its legal uses was a creepy reminder to reflect on our own technological boundaries.

The characters in the book all had distinct personalities . Many of which were terrible but it brought a distinct realism to the story . Buzz is the cutest kid in a thriller hands down .

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be recommending it to others. I look forward to seeing future thrillers by this author .
