I loved the main character is a brown queer girl. Great representation I don’t see much in fantasy. Unique plot line that just sounds like it would be good, and it did not disappoint. Well written, no fluff, and held my attention the entire time. I thought it was sad Marion felt she had no other choice in life, and in reality, this may have been her best choice for a girl like her at the time. “Your only job is to bleed.” What a statement! Way easier said than done. A few questionable areas, but overall well written and I definitely recommend. I received this book as an ARC with #NetGalley.

This book is a fun nostalgic book of 80s references. It is an entry level horror if you scare easily, but want to get your feet wet. Not too scary or gory, but one part about vomit did freak me out. This book is about friendship and commitment to it despite adversity. It also speaks about privilege and what security that provides for you, working hard to make your own way, and it also pays homage to the south, South Carolina. This book made me laugh, pissed and also homesick. So much more innocent times in the 80s. Fun read, but not hardcore and the exorcism was cheesy. Several plot holes, but nothing to leave you wanting more. Looking forward to the movie.

This books seems like it is written by someone with ADHD that rambles, and thinks way too much. The author goes off on a tangent way too many times, which is why this book was so long. It could definitely have been shorter. The details for informative, but dang, how much can Marlit express her biasness against fraternities. I almost felt like the author must be enamored with college youth, or had some traumatic experience that she can’t let go of. The plot is good and played out well. I didn’t pick up on the final outcome until about ⅔ into the book. However, the assumption in the beginning just didn’t warrant the level of investigation to come to the end conclusion. This was seriously an awesome book. So excited to have read it. Unique kills, creepy killer (s) and everyone seems to be a suspect in my mind. I liked how the author referenced NetGalley, references vomiting (a lot), and all the twists and turns. Very suspenseful, and the ending is fantastic. Didn’t see it coming. Erotic story of gay men having way too much illicit fun on the beach. Gross how they polluted the ocean with body fluids and did not practice safe sex, but it was a great short read. Don’t like cliffhanger ending. Some of the wording in the first ¼ of the book made me think it was written by a non American author.

The Billionaire’s Unexpected Bride was a great story and the perfect length for cheesy romance stories like this. I like their different races was not a factor in the story, her vitiligo was not a hindrance and he saw beauty in it, and he paid her according to her work ethic and worth, not her title (which would command less). Even though I think he’s an idiot and controlling, I do like he is willing to shell out money and hand over that black card to take care of her. Great story, well written, and a fun time.

Interesting book of spooky tales surrounding fictional British towns. I like how the first 2 were connected and expected the others to be as well. I like the diversity of the tales: aliens,monsters, psychopath serial killers. Writing styles at times seemed like it was from different authors. Enjoyable. Author has promise.

I have seen the movie several times and this is the second time reading the short story. I only read this story in the book titled Close Range, Wyoming Stories. Simple, no frills, country boy talking, not much conversation story. I am biased because in my head, I constantly compared it to the awesome movie. This book portrays both guys as not attractive, Jack seemed to be eyeing Ennis from the beginning, and Ennis is disgusting and refused to be more successful despite opportunities. Jack is manipulative, his wife is straight cold hearted and Alma got the short end of the stick from the beginning. The scene in front of the campfire where Ennis is hugging Jack from behind is really beautiful/emotional. It is the most memorable part of the book and film. Decent story, but the film really brought this story to life and will forever remain in my heart.

I jumped in the middle of the series, and liked so much I decided to order the other volumes. This fun gruesome graphic novel features a badass young female character that does what she needs to do and can follow instructions. I like that. No playing around. A few of the secondary characters had different personalities that I expected, so I was happy about that. Lots of blood, darkness and interesting plot. Can’t wait to continue the story.
