Mini Book Review -  Thank you so much to Hachette Books for an advance copy of this book!

This book will be published on September 5th.

This book was such a joy to read! A League of Their Own is one of my favorite movies of all time - easily top 3 so I knew I had to get my hands on this book.

I love learning about Penny's history in the industry which I hadn't previously known. I also enjoyed reading about the making of "Big" which is another one of my top movies.

Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors so reading about his career before, during and after ALOTO was fun for me.  I didn't realize how important his role in this movie was to his career. And as the book says, it's just a brief cmoment compared to the rest of his filmography.

Rosie O'Donnell was also very a prominent figure in my life growing up between this movie, "Harriet the Spy", her outstanding tv show and being a plus size figure on tv - she was very important to me (shockingly I still have my Rosie Koosh balls). I knew that her and Madonna met on the set of this movie but the book divulged a little into their friendship.

Oh Madonna, she is everything you think she was during this era. She was *peak* Madonna was between Vogue and her Erotica album and just was at the top of her game. She was thee person in the music industry next to Michael Jackson. So the stories that were told in the book was not shocking.

What else I was fascinated by was the casting process. I was shocked to learn even with reading about Big, the original decisions and who Penny wanted casted for the roles. I definitely can't see the characters being anyone else but could you see Demi Moore as Dottie Hinson?! No way!!! Because Geena Davis was perfect for this role.

The book is not a long book but its dense with entertainment information. I probably would've finished a lot sooner but was being lax on my reading time between when I started and finished.

If you are a fan of behind the scenes of movie making, highlight reels of actors/actresses or if you just love this movie - check this book out!!

**I will not be rating Non Fiction books as it is based on real events and real experiences.**

Thank you so much to PRH Audio for the advance copy!
Thank you so much to Berkley Romance for an advance copy!

This book will be published on August 29th, 2023.

I had been nervous going into this due to some mixed reviews I had heard but I thought let's give it a shot!  And I thought it was a quirky, fun rom com!

I am not sure that I fully believed that they were lovers as it definitely came across as more friends especially as Cassie was trying to help Frederick become modern which I thought was a cute idea for the author to have.  But of course I was living for them falling for each other. I love the relationship that Cassie and Frederick developed throughout the book & how they connected by leaving notes for each other.

Sometimes you just need an easy breezy read and this was it for me. If you are expecting a Twilight like book, this is not it. The only part that may be compared that I can remember is when they do become intimate and he doesn't want to hurt her.

This is the first book I read with the narrator Gilli Messer and I thought she did a fabulous job! She made the listening enjoyable & I thought the cadence was perfect.

I am looking forward to see what is next for Jenna! And hoping that maybe she will do a book for Reginald as he was such a great side character.

Also bonus - love to hear my city mentioned when talking about Taylor Swift

If you are looking for a not so serious romance that include a vampire trying to live in modern times - this is for you!

Mini Audiobook Review - How perfect! I listened to my first Elin book while away at a beachtown with my friends!

I wasn't sure what to expect from one of her books. I hadn't done any research of her work or read anything about her so I was going in completely blind. Does she write romance? Does she write fiction? Is it more woman's fiction? I would say it is definitely the latter.

In this book in particular it was more about Hollis grieving her husband's death while reconnecting with friends from different times in her life.  I thought the concept of The Five Star Weekend was such a great concept! Planning a night out is stressful but to plan something as extravagant as this sounds super stressful. But I will say the descriptions that Hilderbrand describe the food that Hollis cooked sounded divine!

I love that we not only got to know Hollis but also those who were invited to the Five Star Weekend. Even though this took place over a weekend, each women learned so much about themself.  Each one had their own little storyline that we got to see play out throughout the book.

I really enjoyed this & looking forward to reading others from her!

This is the 3rd book in my traveling book club book with my co workers. One of my other co-workers also picked a Freida book. I think I may have liked this one a smidge more than The Housewife?

I love a thriller that takes place in a short amount of time in this case 12 hours.
Is the premise of this book a little far fetched? Yes
Did I still eat this up? Also yes

I thankfully have never been in a inpatient mental hospital or know anyone who has to know what it really is like in one and yet I found some of it definitely not to be believable. Even with Amy being a med student on rotation, I can't imagine students opening up to patients as she had with those in the ward that night. Despite that I still found myself drawn to the story and wanting to know what was real and not. Some stuff I had kind of predicted but others I did not.  I paired this with the audio and it definitely helped make the pages go by quick.

4.5 - Thank you so much to Colored Pages Book Tour and Simon Teen for a copy of this book!

This book is out now!

"Life is a competition. You win or you lose in every situation you face, right?"

Ya'll YA authors are doing it right when it comes to YA thrillers that "adult" thrillers are just not hitting. This one was just SO GOOD. I can see why there has been so much hype around this book.

First off, the cover is amazing between the font colors and they iridescent image on the perfume bottle. *chef's kiss*

Secondly, this was such a wild ride from start to finish. There is just something so enticing about rich people behaving badly. In this case it is a mix of both adults and teens that mingle with this trope. Rich white men controlling a bunch of teenagers to make them compete for the "heart" of the next Remington men turning 18. The teen girls are put through the impossible tasks that there are pretty much no rules and death is an option. Adina had NO IDEA what she was in for when she accepted the invite to the games.

Wellington did such a great job with building personalities for the other competitors and making them truly horrible individuals. Horrible might be a strong word but they were not good people. Saint is truly the best side character in the book! Absolutely love her and Adina's dynamic throughout the book.

I did pair this with the audio courtesy of my library and thought that Ariel Blake did a great job narrating!

I don't want to say too much about the games itself because that is part of the fun in reading.
I know this is fictional but it's a wild thought to imagine if this was something that happened in real life - gosh I hope it doesn't happen in real life because WHEW.

“What do you like to eat, then?”
“The rich.”

If you are a fan of a cat & mouse game, somehow a mix of The Bachelor, Gossip Girl & Hunger Games - this is for you!

Mini Audiobook Review: I feel bad rating this book a 3 but I feel like it did not translate as well as I thought it would to audio - I even was warned by the author!!!

I got the chance to meet Rupert Holmes (SUCH A DELIGHT) in April and told him I was excited to pair my audiobook with the book. And he kind of alluded that it may not be the best to just do the audio.  I thought I would have a chance to do both at the same time but just timing wise I stuck with just the audio. It started off great. I could follow the story but then somewhere in the middle - I was lost. And then there was a moment in the the last 25% where I was understanding and then suddenly its over and I have no clue what happened?

I do want to come back to this and read it correctly because I feel like I would like this book a lot but just right now I just mentally could not follow. So for right now I am giving this a 3 but perhaps when I do a re-read of this, I will change the rating.

If anything read other reviews if you are thinking of reading this as they might paint a better picture for you of what you are about to go into.  The rating is no indication of the author's writing or the narratration.

PS - This cover is one of the MOST GORGEOUS COVERS of 2023!

Thank you so much to Sourcebook Casablanca for an advance copy of this book!
Thank you so much to Dreamscape Media for an advance copy of the audio!

This book will be published on August 22nd.

"I'm the one nobody wants until I get eighty million dollars."

Ya'll I am torn on how I feel about this book! The first half of the book was hard for me to digest. I was mostly disappointed in how Rose treated herself & what she perceived others felt about her. Granted I understood why she got those thoughts but as a plus size reader, I want my FMC to be happy and confident in their size. So it was  hard to hear her say some of things about herself. I also did not understand the purpose of the character for Miz Ames. I was hoping for some sort of resolution with her by the end but there really wasn't anything? Her note to her was not kind and very backhanded.  I am curious to see if we get any more answers in the upcoming books.

I definitely was much more invested in the story in the 2nd half. I thought the conflict for the couple was somewhat warranted.  I also like the friend group that Rose was able to make and think she really found herself in this city of Galway.

"Now I totally fucking get why people like getting naked."

Rosie overall was such a sweet person. She was giving an opportunity that most of us don't ever have and decided not to be selfish with it. All she ever wanted was to help people and by the end she was able to do so. Angus meant well in everything he did but sometimes his delivery was a little off. I do love how into he was with Rosie. He was very gentle and really listened to her stories from her past without any sort of judgment.

I do like how the author made Angus a Vet and that he worked with discharged Vets. I thought that it was a very honorable career. And similar to Rose, just likes helping people and wanting the best for them.  This definitely had more spicier bits that I was expecting (going in I thought it was closed door).
As much as this wasn't my favorite romance, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and could not stop reading it. I know this was the author's debut so perhaps she was just getting into her groove. I probably will check out the 2nd book in the series to see what's happening with July.

I paired my reading in tandem with the audio. I was not familiar with either names for the narrators. The female narrator, Michelle Price, was great and I wish she narrated the whole book. The male narrator, Paul Bellantoni, just was not the voice I imagined that Angus would sound like. He definitely sounded older than his 36 year old self. I took me well into the 2nd half to adjust to listen to his tone.

If you like a Hallmark story with a hot handyman & a fat FMC who is coming into her own plus throw $80 million dollars in there - this is the book for you!

Mini Audiobook Review: 4.5
This book has been making its rounds everywhere since before it came out back in May. This story was so polarizing and there really isn't any word that better describes it besides that.

Even though this story is fictional, it felt so real in today's culture. The story sucked me in and I truly could not stop listening to it. The guilt that was just eating away at June just grew and grew as the book went on until it erupted. June was such an interesting character. She constantly was trying to convince herself that what she was doing was okay.

It was such a wild ride & I highly recommend for everyone to read!
I hope this is made into a limited series because it would translate so well into tv.

This book is a perfect book club selection & I could see a lot of thought provoking conversations could come from it.

Mini Audiobook Review - 4.5
After reading Same Time Next Summer, I went backwards and checked out Nora Goes Off Script and I can definitely see why everyone loved it!

At first I wasn't sure if I was into it but quickly that feeling disappeared as I was super invested in Nora & Leo's relationship.  I love how she was Hollywood adjacent being behind the scenes as a screenwriter whereas Leo is the face in front of the camera. I love the way he treated her kids and immediately struck a relationship with them. I did not like their conflict as I wish Leo communicated what was going on instead of going radio silent. I don't blame Nora for being heartbroken. I totally could see how strong feelings and the what if intrusive thoughts linger in your head after such a short time of being with someone.

I did think the end kind of wrapped up too quickly. I would have loved to see Nora and Leo continue to date and progress further into a relationship. See how they worked through that hiccup not only with her but with her kids as well. Just like her latest release, this one is short and sweet. Definitely bingeable and moves quick that you could get through in a day.

I look forward to reading her future releases!

Reread: I felt like I needed to do a reread of this masterpiece and it still remains one of my favorite books of the year! I just love Tilly and Oliver so much! It just has the perfect mix of everything.

Thank you so much to St Martin's Press & Wednesday books for an advance copy of this book!

This book will be published on August 15th.

OH MY GOD!
This book was literal perfection. I loved every minute of it!  And I think why I loved it so much is the similarities between Tilly and one of Mazey's prior characters Lizzie Blake (which was my favorite of her Brush with Love series).

"Couples that stim together stay together."

I do not think I have every highlighted so many LONG passages from a book before. There was just one thing after the next that I just adored. I just love the way that Mazey wrote both Oliver and Tilly. I felt like I knew them to my core.  I thought all the relationships were so well done throughout the book. Mona & her mom were frustrating characters but as much as Tilly was growing, they were as well.

Tilly. Tilly. Tilly.
Tilly has just graduated and still has not applied for college (she does not want to go) and is going off to Europe for the summer to work as an intern for her sister. Tilly has ADHD and knows where her weaknesses are but also knows what her strengths lie - in writing. She has such a passion for writing and her blog posts were so vulnerable and honest. "But when I'm writing or reading, I never feel alone. I melt into the pages, my world morphing into the safety of a story."  I was so proud that she stood up for what she wanted by the end and was able to find her voice to speak up to her sister and mother.  I have never been clinically diagnosed with ADHD but there instances of Tilly's actions or thoughts that had me questioning could I have be on a spectrum? When Tilly's internal dialogue says "I've always had trouble relating to my peers, saying or doing the wrong thing no matter how hard I tried to be like them." - it hit me to the core.  I just loved seeing her growth and throughout this book & her journey of finding out who she is.

Oliver. Oliver. Oliver.
The way Oliver saw the world was just so fascinating and I just adored the way that he adored Tilly.  So many times I felt myself swooning over the things he would say to Till.y. "Tilly, you're the entire rainbow" :falls over:  The way Eddings describes all the colors that Oliver sees was simply so beautiful. I don't think I can do justice to convey how eloquently he speaks. His relationship with his sister was interesting. She was such a loose cannon and as a reader you could tell their twin bond was special. The special gift she got him had me rolling (iykyk).

What is amazing by the two of them is that they are aware of their differences and once the wall was taken down and they were honest with one another, they really could understand each other. I love the consent between them and how they were constantly making sure the other was okay and asking permission. They were just so comfortable with each other & were learning from each other.

"That smile makes it feel like sunshine is rushing through my veins, while small flashes of lightning crack through my chest and fizzle down to my fingertips."

I wanted to be apart of their world. I wanted to escape to Europe with their small group and travel from city to city and be a hand model.

I don't think I have giggled harder at any other book Eddings before. I have no notes to provide or wishes that I thought this book could have used I love that it was in a dual POV. I love that the conflict in the 4th act was resolved quickly. I just love Tilly and Oliver so much!
