spoopywife's Reviews (918)

Kind of a letdown after the first book, to be honest. The end was a fantastic cliffhanger, though and did make me want to pick up the third book immediately.

I really enjoyed the way we were let into the minds of both Charlotte and Jamie to see how they dealt with the trauma of the last book. This was a great character study and explored PTSD and the effects of trauma.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery and seeing Charlotte and Jamie in a collegiate atmosphere. How we leave both of them at the end of the book is satisfying and very wholesome.

 Really didn't like the characters.

Gained a bit from the first read-through, but I'll be returning to see what else I'll be able to glean and apply.

My life has changed a bit since starting this series and some things that didn't bother me before have begun to trigger me. I definitely can't continue with this series because of it.

I really enjoyed how real the characters felt. They were flawed and imperfect. It felt like a true friends-to-lovers romance.

The first time they had sex, they laughed and joked to a normal extent like most couples who have been together a long time do. They had an ease with each other that felt natural.

I didn't like how rushed the third-act conflict and ending felt, however. It was like the third-act conflict hit and then the end was right there. I wish we got to see more of a resolution and more of their lives together after. The epilogue and bonus epilogue were chronologically out of order and sadly way too short for my liking.

Loved the feminist retelling of these intertwined stories. The POVs were so very well thought out and well written. Truly a unique reading experience!

Make sure you read the TWs since this is  based on Greek mythology.

WOW! Literally just staring into space after finishing this.

I want to reread it already just to be able to analyze the themes explored (which can be really triggering. PLEASE look up trigger warnings before reading.)

You're left questioning the justice system and how it's run. But, you're also left contemplating complicity and conditioning and how those factor in to the sometimes extreme actions people take.

Really engaging and I did NOT see the twists coming at the end. Definitely kept my interest the entire time and I was compulsively reading it.
