The scene where

I felt really lost when it came to the world-building. I almost wonder if all the world-building was done in the first book and I would be able to follow this plot better if I had read the first book before

There is some inaccurate colorblind representation: traditional colorblindness is equal in severity in both eyes. If it's a differing severity, it's from a different cause that should be specified. Also, traditional colorblindness is fairly rare in women. All of this information was from a quick Google search. 

The FMC is unlikeable and the MMC didn't come across as pining in love inasmuch as he came across as obssessed. I would understand if this was marketed as a dark romance, but that's not how the marketing came across at all.

He literally masturbates to social media posts of her and has been keeping tabs on her since they met this one time when he was a senior in high school and she was a freshman. There’s even a comment about understanding the schoolgirl fetish upon seeing her.

I have no sympathy for the FMC and the MMC's POV feels like another female POV

 Came off as misandry disguised as feminism.
