Didn't expect this to be as cute as it was. It wasn't super cheesy and was really cute. Some of the secondhand embarrassment was cringey, but it was secondhand embarrassment nonetheless.
The way these myths were strung together was beautifully done and flowed so perfectly. My heart went out to Angrboda and I felt so connected to her. When I put this down, I immediately wanted to read it again.
Shonda's experience was inspiring and she has fantastic nuggets of wisdom. I relate a lot to her and felt like she was a friend talking to me over coffee or something. Definitely recommend the audiobook since she narrates beautifully and there are recordings of speeches she's given included.

The romance wasn't believable to me. The hero even points out they knew each other for a total of 5 months and one week, with a ten-year break. Then he also says he knows her better than anyone else? That really just doesn't track at all. Plus the adventure was super contrived and difficult to follow along to since everything was so out of left field. Smaller gripe, but I just can't get over it, who has sex that many times when they're out in the middle of the desert and have gotten as gross as they have after days on the trail?
It was okay. I can't speak for the rep, but, as far as I know, nothing wrong with it.
Loved this little novella so much! Seeing the other aspects of the world outside of Obitraes was super interesting. The descriptions of the gods, religion, and the world outside that little bubble was such a treat. I'm even more hyped for The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King to be released now!!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! I made the mistake of not looking at the TW for this book and was hit hard with the forced miscarriage in the first chapter or so. I can't unhear that part of the audiobook and it was definitely graphic.
The issues brought up regarding the treatment of working animals, conservation, and the realities of farming are already familiar to me. They really were just making me angry and that's not what I was wanting from this book.
Light, fluffy, and cute. Loved the idea of the week-long game. Definitely what I needed!
Really enjoyed everyone's sass and hilarious situations. This is such a great rom-com series.
