Read Chidera Eggerue's "What a Time To Be Alone" instead.
Given, like many white 'influencers', fails to give credit to Black women for their contribution to the ideas, theories, and labour that her work is 'influenced' by.
White feminism is NOT feminism and claiming all feminist theories and ideas are universally formed is bullsh*t.

A great starting point for people wanting to go zero waste.
It's set out as a 30-day guide, but it could easily be taken as 30 steps towards zero waste instead.

Some time ago, I asked people for book suggestions to help me better understand how to speak to my son about racism. In particular, I was looking for books that could help explain all the ways racism is normalised, minimised, and overlooked by well-meaning white people (🙋🏼♀️) and how they (we) continue to perpetuate and benefit from institutional and systemic racism.
Someone recommended 'So You Want To Talk About Race' by Ijeoma Oluo. I started it one morning and finished it in two sittings.
It was such an uncomfortable, eye-opening, insightful, and brilliant read.
The examples and statistics are very much based on the United States, but the underlying points are universal.
I highly recommend this book to everyone!

A beautifully illustrated introduction to the main gods and goddesses of Egyptian mythology.
I especially loved the way that the Egyptian names of the gods were used instead of the more widely known Greek names.

You have to really like honey bees to fully appreciate this book. Like, *really* like them.
The book is well written, and there is lots of interesting information about wild honey bee populations, but it was far more in-depth than my mild curiosity was up for.
I did really enjoy chapter 10 and learning about the different defences hives and colonies have.
So whilst this wasn't the most well-suited read for me, I can appreciate that it would be a brilliant book for die-hard honey bee fans.

A wonderful biography that focuses on Kelley's acting career and personal life. From his life as the son of a preacher man to his service during the war, from his role as Dr Lenard McCoy, to his final days at home.
This is a beautifully writing biography and I highly recommend it to fans of DeForest Kelley (both his Star Trek and his Western fans) as well as people who are interested in what it used to be like trying to make it in Hollywood.

I've always been fascinated by Snow and Whitehead's investigations into the Broad Street cholera outbreak, so I found this book to be really interesting.
It tells the story of locating the source of the outbreak, the difficulties involved, the pushback by miasmatic theorists, as well as some history on the London sewerage system.
It's well-written, informative, and enjoyable.

As someone with OCD, I usually hate when characters have OCD as it is always inevitably a shallow portrayal and/or used as a personality quirk so it was refreshing to see it handled so well in this book. In fact, the portrayal of mental health issues in general was well handled.
I also loved the portrayals of friendship and family.
Also, the Indie Kids story told via the chapter titles is a lot of fun.

The Inner Life of Animals: Love, Grief, and Compassion--Surprising Observations of a Hidden World
The keyword here is 'observations'.
This book is a collection of observations that the author has made in regards to animals. There is a lot of anthropomorphising of animals and little scientific evidence.
Nonetheless, it's still a thought-provoking and interesting read.

If you're not a fan of dry, dark humour, then this book is most definitely not for you!
This was such a great read, and I'm so glad that I went into it without knowing the premise of the book.
It was such an unexpectedly absurd and gloriously dark ride.
