I think my heart is in pieces. This was so devastating just all the way through. THAT WAS NOT A VERY HAPPY ENDING OK.

A beautifully written story about a girl, a curse, and a small, mysterious town.

Each character felt like a fully realized person, with the exception of the mother who I thought was horrible from start to finish, but accept that she was written to appear nice but secretive and I just found her awful. Twig's friendships felt natural in the way of childhood and the town was crafted in such a way that I could believe they would accept magic. Hoffman did a great job of adding in quick sentences of foreshadowing that would tug you along from page to page.

Would recommend to anyone looking for the kind of story that felt magical as a child.

I don't really like Butch or Marissa so I struggled to get into this one. There was too much "oh he doesn't love me" "oh she doesn't love me" for my taste. I mostly just liked the scenes with Vishous. And of course the romance scenes. *fans self*

Too much abuse and violence for my taste. I am in it for the adventure and the romance.

I first experienced the Raven Boys in audiobook, and liked it but wasn't enthralled. Luckily, knowing the story let me focus this time on the brilliance of Stiefvater's prose and her phenomenal skill with foreshadowing. She is a master at building character, and the whole volume feels like a tightly wound ball of yarn without a single thread out of place

Sunshine and her mother move to Washington when her mom gets a new job: Sunshine expects to deal with being the new girl at school, rainy cold weather, and being away from her friends--she does not expect to be haunted by the ghost of a ten year old girl that her mother can't hear.

I had to read this all in one day because I don't think I could have slept otherwise. Scary and pulse-pounding but with enough humor and realism to ground it and keep the pace taut without being outrageous. Definitely one of the best paranormal thrillers I've read in a long time.

Emma is turning into a mermaid, and when her boyfriend catches her coming out of the ocean he gets the wrong idea and beats her. Now it's a new school year and another boy has caught her eye in spite of her fear of trusting another guy and an equal fear of loving him anyway and being forced to leave him when the ocean claims her.

I couldn't put this book down. I loved that it was a realistic high school romance with family issues, former relationship issues / abuse that were portrayed realistically, a disabled brother handled with respect, but ALSO MERMAIDS. The tension was high and the romance was something I was definitely rooting for.

There were a few loose ends that I felt could have been tied up, but I'm not losing sleep over it. This book fair broke my heart.
SpoilerThe Tuck Everlasting-style ending, especially, broke my little black heart.

I love getting to see the Brotherhood one by one. Learning more about the world of the vampires is fascinating, and Ward does an amazing job of mixing adventure and danger and love and sex into one helluva book. I can't be bothered to write anymore because I need to go get the next one!

Just great fun across the board. It had romance, adventure, danger, crime, fighting, strong yet sensitive men, vampires, and a tough heroine who won't take shit from any of the strong yet sensitive vampires and wasn't plucked from obscurity because of her girlish tendencies. Ward has an amazing way of pulling together a wild myriad of stories into one engrossing read.

Not possible to say enough good things about this book.
