I liked this a lot better than the first one. I don't like Luce at all because she's an idiot, but the supporting cast is so great that I can get over it. I was happy to see her realize that her relationship with Daniel is a bad one, and I liked seeing her friendship with Shelby and Miles.

I am removing my review as I received an early non-finalized copy.

This was really dumb? It was a few paragraphs about him flying away with her.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. The supporting characters are great, and the insta-love aspect is explained in a way that I can roll with. It was too long -- a lot of the internal rambling could have been cut, but the action scenes were great.

Subtly creepy: only the ghosts spoke in first person, the story was divided into chapters based on rooms of the house, everyone's story intertwined in unexpected ways. A strange and unique ghost story.

The first book didn't need a sequel, but Whitcomb's writing is lovely so I read this anyway.

It was boring. There was none of the tension or passion from the first book. And the turnaround of Billy to a sweetheart just to further the plot and make Helen feel better was pretty nauseating. None of the unanswered questions from the first book (did Jenny get an STD from Billy because of Helen and James, for example) get answered in this one, so most of it is a lot of navel-gazing.

Whitcomb is still a lovely writer. This just felt forced.
