Is Murderbot turning me into a sci-fi girlie?? The answer is - probably, yes. The second installment of The Murderbot Diaries was even better than the first. While it took me a little longer to get into the story, the development we saw with Murderbot in their relationships with ART (absolutely love this character and so hope to see them again in future installments) and the human clients they take on in their own quest for answers, was so interesting. There is so much humor within Murderbot that I hadn't been expecting when I started the series, and it really adds so much to not only the story but to their humanity.

How Wells manages to fit so much into so few pages is astounding and I can't wait to pick up Rogue Protocol.

Considering how long this book is, there really isn't much that happens with the plot or characters. Dual timelines and multi-POVs are usually my jam, but I found myself only interested in one POV (Alex) out of the five we are given and unbelievably uninterested in the 'current day' perspective. I'll give it to Danforth, the writing itself was gorgeous - and the audiobook narrator had a beautiful and eerie way of telling the story through tone switches, creepy singing bits, and crackling voices where applicable. Unfortunately, as a whole though, I was disappointed - there was so much potential, especially in the historical timeline with Libby and Alex and Addie - like seriously, I had no interest in Harper, Audrey, and Merritt (especially Merritt).

Not being a science fiction super fan, I was hesitant to start this series as I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy it, but hearing so many great things I figured I would give it a shot considering how short the installments are and I was very pleasantly surprised. I found Murderbot's dry sense of humor to be hilarious, their interactions with his clients awkwardly funnyand the story fantastic. While not overly shocked about their decision at the end, I'm curious to see how/where they go from here.
