Although I'm not normally a fan of mythology, I really loved this series. I loved the Gods, the magic, the humor and the characters. This last book was a little disappointing. Not as much action, and the ending was a bit of a letdown. The last third of the book is mainly Cat dealing with her own insecurities. I would have liked to see more of the other characters.
Powerful. Heartbreaking. Inspiring.
I was excited for this because I loved "The Nightingale." I did really like the Alaska setting, the secondary characters and the main character, Leni. However, I couldn't keep reading all the physical abuse. I read novels for entertainment, and this left me feeling sick.
I stopped at the end of the 1975 section, which is about a third of the way through . This was a book club selection so I'll be satisfied with a wrap up from others who did finish it. At 440 pages, I just can't spend more time reading this.

I laughed, I cried, and more importantly I learned a lot. Chris Edwards has an important story to share about his personal and at times painful struggle with gender dysphoria, and he shares so much detail with a grace and humor that are inspiring. Curious about this topic but too polite or embarrassed to ask questions? This is the book for you. You need to read this and then share it with everyone you know. Knowledge is power, and we should all aspire to be as supportive and accepting as Edwards' friends and family.
Not sure if it was the translation or what, but this felt very repetitive and not so much a guide as a statement that you should habitually do a deep clean every so often in order to keep things in order and not leave a burden for your loved ones when you pass. I was looking for inspiration to help cull my clutter but didn't find it here.
I've got a new favorite! This was the perfect blend of important message and cheesy teen flick. I hope the movie didn't ruin the story because it's perfect how it is.
I'm not sure if I just wasn't in the mood for this or not. It felt more like a juvenile book and less like a teen book. I kept getting pulled out of the story by the writing. There are lots of short sentences that tell the story rather than show it. I was hoping the puzzle aspect of the initiation would keep me reading, but although I liked the first two puzzles, these sections of the story felt very hectic and rushed, which I know is part of the suspense but just didn't work for me.
