This did not go where I expected it to. Nimona is such an interesting character and you’re never sure what she’s going to do. Its was interesting to see how the villian, Lord Blackheart, and the hero, Ambrosius Goldenloin, interacted with each other and how their morals affect what they do. The dialogue was entertaining, the illustrations were gripping, and the ending was satisfying.

Super accessible poems with colorful illustrations. It breaks down tough topics like stereotypes, empathy, immigration, and activism. Very useful and inspiring for children who want to get involved with activism or see something wrong with the world.

I feel like this was the perfect point in my life to read this. Rilke talks a lot about living alone and being comfortable in solitude, to take advantage and appreciate this time that you have to work on yourself and your art. I got the book from the library but I put so many quotes that I liked that I'm going to have to buy my own copy. Highly recommend for any artists or creatives or anyone living alone.

This book kept me up at night because of how frustrated I was with the characters. Rosemary was 11 when her sister Fern, a monkey she was raised with, was taken away and her brother Lowell left to go find her. The book jumps back and forth between stories of Rosemary growing up and her life as a 21-year-old college student. It was interesting to read about and hear about her perspective on some events that happened in her life with Fern. We learn that she hasn't seen or heard from her brother but when she comes home from class one day she learns that a man came to visit her. It was so frustrating that Rosemary kept missing Lowell when he came and her friend Harlow got to meet him instead. I'm not quite sure what I got from the book. I know more about how animals have been mistreated. There is some misremembering which was interesting. The ending was relatively satisfying. I could be talked into reading Fowler again.

This was my first time reading an adult romance book and it was a very good experience. I wasn't expecting Chloe and Red's attraction to each other to be recognized from the very start of the book but I didn't mind it. It was very interesting reading from Chloe's perspective and why she acted in certain ways and how her chronic illnesses affected the way she viewed relationships. Loved seeing both the characters learn and grow over the course of the book. Super cute, someone call me Button immediately.

Heartbreaking. I was worried that the format would be confusing and it was at first but then I got used to it. I feel like I would have caught more details being brought up as the book went on but I was always excited when I found something that related to what happened earlier. So unique to try and figure out where things went wrong and what changed. I do agree with another reviewer that said they wished we were given more of a reason to like Theo towards the last third of the book. So many different things happen in this book but it doesn't feel like too much, it just feels like life. I need to make my friends read this book so I have someone to talk about it with.

Carry On is a very easy and fun read. It is pretty similar to Harry Potter but maybe the similarities were more obvious to me because I read it right after watching the HP movies. The concept of the magic was super interesting and fun, I liked that they didn't have to use a wand. Of course, we love a queer love story but Simon's feelings for Baz seemed to come on so suddenly, which was cute so we're not gonna argue with it too much. I really did not like Agatha, happy she's living her best life away from everyone at the end of the book. She just seems so ungrateful. I would have liked to hear more from Lucy's perspective, what happened to her was pretty messed up. I feel like what Simon did at the end should have closed the holes in the magic because what was the point of pouring his power into the Humdrum if it didn't close the holes? I don't know.

Olivia is so talented and really knows how to tell a story. It was so interesting to hear stories from her life and her interactions with men. I could relate to the fear she described feeling sometimes. Reading about the women and the serial killers and her poems about true crime reminded me of my mom watching it all the time when I was growing up. She touches on subjects like love, violence, youth, feminism, and explains how we are all teenage girls.

I really enjoyed reading these poems. I liked the alliteration throughout the poems and I really enjoyed the erasure poems from the old documents. I loved how accessible the poems were and the references explained in the back of the book. Some of the poems I didn't really vibe with but it was really enjoyable for the most part. I really liked the poems on the darker pages. It was like a kick to the gut and made me a little uncomfortable, but I think that's what good poetry should do.

Some parts of this book did not age well. There were definitely some cringy parts. Like Addie referring to Jeb as exotic because he's Native American? Gag. It was mostly cute though, besides that part in the last story.
