What the River Knows

I just wasn’t interested in the story. The fmc escaped her situations too easily, the guy who is assigned to basically babysit her seems old but the sketch she did made him look too young to be as much of an alcoholic as he is, and I hate that she calls him Mr. Harvey or whatever his last name is. Also it seems like wherever she goes she is always commenting on how many different people there are. You’re in a culturally diverse place!! We get it!! You don’t need to comment on it every time you go in a different room!!

Repeat After Me

Too many characters to keep track of and most of them sound pretty similar. Also the set up seems to be taking a long time since we have to introduce and get to know like 7 characters. I appreciated the content warning in the beginning.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

I’ve been trying to read this book for a month and a half and it just hasn’t hooked me. The pacing is too slow for me and Mr. Norrell is kind of a gatekeeping ass.

Alice Sadie Celine

I found the writing kind of sloppy and confusing. I hated the way Alice described Celine the morning after, so creepy, couldn’t get over that. I don’t understand how Sadie can view the world the way she does after being raised by Celine.

Not the vibe rn. I like that he does write like Lemony Snicket but nothing is sticking for me. Might try it again later.

Lost interest, so many other books I want to read. I would be open to coming back to this in the future.

I wanted to finish this book so so bad. I wanted to be a space girlie. I enjoyed reading this book, the humor was engaging, the information was interesting and communicated in an accessible way, and these people have done a lot of research so they know what they're talking about. I just hit a wall personally and could not get my motivation to read this book back. If the title intrigues you, I would highly recommend picking this book up. I'm sorry Weinersmiths, it's not you, it's me.

Way too long. I don’t care about the Brothers Grimm stories as much as I thought I did.

Throne of Glass

I didn’t like the repetition, I didn’t like Celaena talking about how pretty she is and how skinny she is amd talking about how skinny other women are. I thought it was silly that her plans of escape were put on hold because she found books. I thought it was funny all the times she was like “I would have no problem beating all these people up and escaping. It would be too easy.” I was like Okay girl then do it!! But she didn’t. Celaena didn’t seem to allow herself to enjoy feminine things. Overall didn’t really fall in love with the characters or the plot.
