SUCH a good book!! I loved the sci-fi elements of the book and the history of the people who live on the moon. The panel conversations were really fun to read. Myhre makes you think about justice and storytelling and activism and your role in society as an artist. It has absolutely made me reflect on my poetry and the messages I’m sending. This should be read by every writer! You’re bound to get something out of it!

I think I found a new favorite poet! That first poem was so thought provoking and powerful. I loved the themes of nature and animals in her poetry. The poem she wrote about her dog was so great. Her poem Salvage is incredible. I can't wait to read more of her work!

This is my first time reading Ocean Vuong and just wow. The poems were so gripping and I did not expect to chuckle at some of them. I found the poems without any punctuation to be challenging to read in the beginning but once you read them for a while you get the hang of it. The feelings of grief are so raw. I need to buy this book so I can reread and make annotations in it.

I knew this book was emotional but whew! Very emotional, complicated characters, and family secrets. I never imagined sisters interacting like Jayne and June do. Jayne’s self destruction sexually and physically made me really sad. I liked the ending, there are still questions at the end but enough questions are answered for me to be happy.
Graphic: Eating disorder, Sexual assault, Blood
Moderate: Cancer
Jayne has bulimia and there’s a scene towards the end of her bingeing and purging. There’s also a scene of June in the bathtub during a heavy period flow and Jayne thinks she’s committed suicide at first.

Very short, fun read. It was cool to read about the women's different experiences in school and relationships. The art style was nice to look at and I liked the information at the bottom of the pages too. Wish it had been a little longer but it's a good place to start.

Really good information in here, the women’s experiences were relatable and definitely made me feel less alone. The book covers a wide range of topics and gives good advice. I would highly recommend this book!

I really enjoyed reading about Matsuo Basho and his walks. His poetry was simple and could get repetitive but it was also inspiring to find poetry in the little things, the nature you see around you, wherever you are. It was cool to think about backpacking and writing and stopping at friends houses along the way, or staying with nice strangers and giving them a poem in return for their kindness. I feel like I'll be going back to some of those haikus. I loved that he didn't take the "rules" of haikus seriously, I've always thought that older haikus didn't stray from the rules but Basho's poems proved me wrong.

God I love this series. So emotional and sweet and UGH. There’s so much love and it’s so pure and human. Grief is a big theme in this one too.

I loved this collection so much! Blythe never ceases to amaze me with her talent. I had to reread some of her metaphors because they were so great. I also really loved the format of the book that made certain lines and stanzas really pop. My favorite section was Splinters of Improvement. Could not recommend this enough, full of hope and heartache.

I read this book for an english class in college but I didn't remember too much of it. I'm glad I reread it and I feel like it's something everyone should read. A very good book about slavery and the repercussions of it. Slavery and racism hurts everyone.
