I recognized one of the poems from high school speech which was fun. I didn’t remember all the rhyming in Andreas past poems. I liked that they were longer than poems I’ve been reading lately. Gibson covered some topics that were pretty shocking but she covered them really well.

Whitman Illuminated: Song of Myself

Allen Crawford, Walt Whitman

Too difficult to read, this was probably just meant to be a coffee table book. The pages are very cool to look at though.

Loved this book! Maggie is lovable and relatable as we follow her during the year after her divorce. What she experienced in the book just seems so realistic, her feelings of sadness, grief, anger, and bitterness. I loved that she could at times be an unreliable narrator. Highly recommend this book!!

A very good read that has a duo timeline of the character as a child and the character as an adult where he is a successful author. The narrator is unreliable because his strong imagination sometimes makes him see people that aren’t really there. The reader is never given the main characters name as we follow him to interviews and book signings. It was an enlightening look at the experience of Black Americans and the want to disengage from news and media because of the constant reports of murders and hashtags.

The narration is really good and made the book fun to listen to. The story is very dark and there is a lot of descriptions of wounds so if you’re squeamish about that be aware. The characters were well developed and had their own inner conflicts along with the external conflicts they faced. I did not see that ending coming and I can’t wait to listen to the next book!

It was challenging to read about some of the trauma she went through. She is a very courageous woman for leaving the life she had with her family to pursue education. The amount of resilience she has is incredible.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a very good portrayal of how grief affects people. I loved the different perspectives over the years and the characters distinct voices. A new way to tell a crime story. Highly recommend!

Hibbert does it again!! In her first YA romance she stays true to her writing style while keeping it appropriate for young readers. Celine and Brad’s relationship going from enemies to friends to lovers is so wholesome and their trains of thought made sense. Hibbert brings attention to different mental illnesses in her books and in this one she tackles OCD. She has OCD so I think she did a really good job writing about what it’s like. The ending is adorable, there were multiple times I whisper screamed at my book because it was so cute.
