I just wasn’t interested in the story. The fmc escaped her situations too easily, the guy who is assigned to basically babysit her seems old but the sketch she did made him look too young to be as much of an alcoholic as he is, and I hate that she calls him Mr. Harvey or whatever his last name is. Also it seems like wherever she goes she is always commenting on how many different people there are. You’re in a culturally diverse place!! We get it!! You don’t need to comment on it every time you go in a different room!!

I really liked the range of perspectives we got and the third person omniscient narration. We got a lot of details about the side characters and their lives and internal struggles. You really care about them and root for them. I didn’t so much like Frank and Cleos relationship, especially because sometimes Franks descriptions of Cleo could get into infantilizing and creepy territory. It made me dislike him at times. Cleo was obviously beautiful, everyone commented on how beautiful she was. I felt bad for her toward the end of the book and could relate to some of her feelings. I liked the ending of the book.

This was a good middle grade book that tackles difficult topics like losing a parent, making friends, being independent, and financial strains. I also liked that sometimes the adults were helpful and sometimes they were causing the problems. I didn’t so much like that they praised the landlord at the end. But overall it was good.

It was so interesting to learn about his life and activism. I didn’t know he was such a passionate activist! It was also interesting to hear the thought behind sending one of their albums to everyone’s iPhones for free lol. Such an amazing audiobook, Bono is a great narrator.

A great story about how it feels better to try on your own than it does to cheat.

This is my first time reading Andy Weir and I enjoyed it! In the beginning, the fact that Grace doesn’t curse kind of took me out of it. Like this is a grown man, he can say fuck! But ig I understand since he’s a teacher. I liked his and Rocky’s relationship and the way they communicated. The science aspects of the book were easy to understand and follow along with. A great sci-fi book for someone just getting into the genre!

This is a great bookclub book! It was fun to see Humphrey go to different students houses. We got a look into their home lives that explained a little why they acted the way they did in school. His nicknames for the students were funny. And I loved how he helped out Aldo! Humphrey is such a clever little guy. The ending was great, loved Mrs. Brisbane’s explanation.

What a fantastic book about grief and relationships! I liked the perspective changes we get and how its displayed through the length of sentences and paragraphs. The characters were complex and interesting and I loved being in their heads and hearing their internal debates and struggles. I loved some of the symbolism used and the observations they make.

I really liked Iris as a character, so motivated and caring, wanting her writing to make a difference. I also really liked Roman and how he was a secret simp. It went from rivals to lovers fairly quickly but I didn’t mind bc it seemed to be bubbling under the surface for a while even before the book started. The magic wasn’t explained fully but idk, I didn’t care too much. I just chalked the magic of the typewriters to friendship. I liked the friends at the B and B and the queer relationship.
What I have a problem with is Forest and Iris’s relationship.I thought the relationship between Iris and Forest was weird and too affectionate. Siblings have nicknames for each other like Jerkface or something that only makes sense to them. Little Flower just seems too affectionate to me. And the way Iris talked about him in the beginning made me think he was Iris’s boyfriend before we were told he was her brother. And if Forest had used the time he spent wrestling with Iris to instead save Roman they all would have been fine. Idk, I thought it was weird.
