This was a short and terrifying read! There wasn't a slow moment for me.
Both girls are that, girls. They're girls who are both terrified of the big life changes that they're going through and end up taking that frustration out on each other which leads to them being reckless and needing to separate to find help. Only help doesn't come. A serial killer looking for his next victim does.
After reading this, I don't think I'll be hiking or camping for a while. This was literally the bear vs man question and the worst scenario happening.

I really enjoyed the uniqueness of The Hazel Wood! It was filled with dark fairy tales and I felt like I was in a fever dream. It started out pretty slow to me. The first 100-150 pages are introductions and day to day life, which is great, but didn't make sense afterwards when it's only Alice through the rest of the book until the last 5%.
About 70% in, I was debating on whether or not the ending would be worth it or not. I'm SO glad I kept reading! This is a story where if you skim or miss something, nothing will make sense and I absolutely loved it. It was complex and unique. I might be a sucker for dark Fairytales, but damn was this done right. I love how Melissa dove head first into the dark stories. It made for a suspenseful adventure filled with otherworldly magic, different universes, and if you're not careful you'll start questioning if places like Hinterland, Hazel Wood or the Half Woods could actually be true.
I absolutely loved the twist even though it was predictable. It made sense and how the author delivered it added more to the story and lore of the book. I really, really hope the next book has more Finch though! I need more of him, especially how The Hazel Wood left off.
This is a book I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

WHY? Why did she do me like that?! 😭 I absolutely devoured and loved this book! I already knew going into it that I would be hooked, but goddamnit I didn't think I would feel all those emotions! I laughed, cried (a loooot), wanted to strangle a couple characters, kicked my feet, giggled, blushes, and everything in between. I wasn't ready whatsoever to leave Ash or Drae or any of the other characters. The author did such an amazing job of really transporting you into a unique, magical, and political world that makes you forget you're reading. I (honestly) will probably wither away waiting on the sequel to know how Ash is going to get out of the shit-storm that cliffhanger left 🫠😭😂

This was such an amazing mix of horror and emotions.
I was immediately hooked on the first few pages. There weren't any dull moments, from learning why the teens were sent to wilderness therapy, their own personal trauma/issues, character dynamics, and especially once the book shifted after they crossed the river.
I tried to figure out what was stalking them through the woods and who was an imposter from the beginning, and it still blew me away towards the end when everything starts to unravel.
What The Woods Took is such an emotional yet horrifying read and I absolutely love it!

If this is wilderness therapy, Ollie really is out of chances.

These woods are different. They may have crossed their first milestone, but for the first time since they arrived, Devin is sure they’re in real danger.
Devin touches the crown and bites back a smile. “What happened to not being nice?”
“I’m very inconsistent,” Sheridan teases. “Never let them know your next move.”

This was everything I hoped for and more! Darcy delivers another amazing read 😍
The first chapter had me hooked, starting with the POV of the original family. Throughout the book, the truth of Rookward is learned by dreams that the MC, Guy, has. At first, I thought maybe Amy wasn't who she was made out to be. Obviously in life, she was a crazed stalker, but in death and as a ghost, it could be Louise.
I've read majority of Darcy Coates haunted house books, and this one was unique with the twists and influence that Amy, the ghost, has. Altering reality? Fucking trippy and gave me chills!
The ending was the HEA that all of her books are and I love it! I love feeling all of the happiness of the characters after getting scarred and tormented about dark corners and shadows😂

I always love the blurbs and the sound of her books, but the way they're written just isn't for me. I really did love the story and the plot so much! The twists were twisting and the mystery was having me confused (in a good way).
This is a great book for anyone who loves to see how the murder/event happened vs the thrill of the investigation afterwards. I enjoyed the back and forth, from the day the friend group arrived at the lodge to present time POVs of Heather trying to contain the situation. For me, the story started really picking up around 60% when it went from day to day to the more juicy bits where everyone starting calling each other out on their shitty behavior. The ending was bitter-sweet, but I feel like it was realistic compared to the character dynamics throughout the book.

This is the second book in The Gailean Quartet and acts as a prequel to the first book, Prelude of Fire.
I loved getting to see how Ragnar became the evil villain he was in PoF! The pacing was a little slower, but the world building and character development was still top notch. There's drama, power struggles, politics, romance and mystery.
Like PoF, I got SUPER invested in every character, no matter how big or small. Even though this is technically the second book in the series, I would of loved to read this one before Prelude of Fire. It would ruin one of the twists in PoF, but I'm okay with that.
Id definitely recommend these books to anyone looking for a unique, epic, and creative fantasy! I can't wait for the next book❤️🔥

Each one I read just gets better, and better, dude! I loved this so much. 90% of the book I was constantly "Liam did it" or "No way he did it". I never expected the twist at the end. My jaw was on the floor! The epilogue made me super happy as well. It had all of the feel goods until the last couple of paragraphs, and now I need to know. I love the open-ended ending but damnit, don't do me like that 😭

I really enjoyed this book! I love Hazel and how she finds her voice.
I've tried a few crime thrillers, but they've all been lacking one way or another for me. This one kept me interested the whole time. It had a great pace and all of the characters were intriguing.
There were so many tiny puzzles pieces throughout the book and I tried so hard to put them together. I was SO wrong though and wasnt prepared for what actually happened to Mia, or who was responsible and how far back it went.
Now that Kenny is cleared of his creepy behavior, I can't wait for the sequel to see where the next case takes them!
