Honestly I want an Ancel/Berenger book now. All of these short stories were really good except for the one about Jord. It was too split between his past and then present with Aimeric so neither got enough fleshing out.

What can I say other than [incoherant screaming]
The ending is so good.  My book is filled with a million tabs. Laurent is such a frustrating bastard in the first third of this book and Damen is adorably lovesick. And then they're both lovesick. And then Laurent is... Aaahhhh. Goodbye I can't type anything useful.

This is super cute. The way everyone is drawn is funny as hell too.

This definitely lived up to expectations.  This book was weirdly funny too they literally tortured a man by shooting soda up his nose.  August is a serial killer but also just a loser dork with a dark academia aesthetic. Lucas wears zip up sweaters which is the most offensive crime he commits in this book tbh.

Chapter 19....chapter 19!!! The slowburn is sooo good in this book and so delicately done. The war/political manuevering had me very invested which is a testimate to the author and to Laurent because I don't care about war. This is a strong book 2, every scene something interesting was happening and there was no lag or filler which I feel like happens a lot to the 2nd book of trilogies.
Laurent went through so much in this book and I'm ready for revenge ♡

This is my... fourth time rereading this series. The writing, the hints and character moments that mean so much more after you’ve finished the series, the politics, and the perfect enemies to lovers! It’s all sooo good.

Don’t expect a hint of romance in this book, it’s largely an introduction to the two kingdoms and how their politics work. Damen and Laurent are trying to survive different problems and for different reasons. And they hate each other with genuine murderous passion.
They have a lot of growth to do over the next two books!

I just need to get the spoilers out of the way first. SIMON FINALLY KNOWS LUCY IS HIS MOM!!! I almost shouted reading that part. I’m so happy he has Ruth and Jamie now for healthy supportive family members.

Boy do I love these characters. BOY do I love Agatha. The last page of this book actually made me tear up. Finishing this book gave me the same feeling in my chest as when I saw HTTYD 3, except I sobbed a lot more during that movie. There is a lot of character focus in this book and not a lot of answers to plot questions, which I am okay with because they are selfish 20 year olds dealing with their emotional baggage. Realistically why would you snitch on yourself to the Coven about all the shit you fucked up in America??? Simon is too busy being depressed and getting seduced into a cult.
Agatha, my beloved, she has been the character I related to in every book and she ended up exactly where I hope I’ll end up.

Editing this because I forgot to add how in love with Shepard I am, he is such a highlight of this book. Shepard if you’re reading this call me.

Was this realistic? no. Was it satisfying? yeah. I wish there was a real life team of billionaires killing pedophiles instead of real life billionaires being pedophiles.

Josie and Haeden supremacy. Also why is the world building/crumb of plot so good.

A Deal with the Elf King

Elise Kova

DID NOT FINISH: 65%

It was sooo boring. The relationship and the world building was really lacking for me, and honestly hardly anything happens in this book. I was forcing myself to read it and couldn’t go on.
