Layover Lover was a wonderful second chance tale, and a perfect read to get me through the iso-blues.

Zack and Jolene (♯ Jolene, Jolene Joleeeeene - sorry, had to do that) are a couple that the universe is trying to tell them that they need to be together, yet they have to fight for their second chance.

The fates intervene and they are back in each others worlds after a decade their hearts are back, wildly beating for each other

I liked that there was nothing too OTT about their getting back together. Their is spark and attraction out the wazoo, yet even though they have their issues and differences, in the end the act like adults, no matter how painful things are at times.

One thing though - I was jealous that our lovelies got to go on trip - I had to cancel my trip for later in the year, and that bummed me out a bit lol.

Layover Lover left me with a smile on my face - something that I need these days.

My favourite on the Donner Bakery series.

I loved the hate at first sight twist in the trope

Wow, wow, wow! That is all that needs to be said about Flash Point - go and buy it!

I have read collaborations involving Brooke Blaine before, but this is her debut novel - and what a novel it is.

Flash Point is full of suspense, romance, lingering looks and a fair share of drama.

And OMG the chemistry between our MC's, Katherine and Jason - I swear anyone near them would have a bad case of proximity-lust! *Fanning myself* I swear the UST between them is off the charts.

But with things that have been and are happening to Katherine, it is hard to know who to trust.

And boy is there a big one of these thrown in

I swear. usually I have a bit of an idea when something like it is going to happen, but holy heck, this one really blindsided me!

There is plenty of intrigue, and you will be left wondering who you can trust - and it may not be who you think.

There is also lots of funny banter between Katherine and her body guards. Their interactions, though they are thrown together, feel organic. There were times I laughed, there were times I may have shed a tear.

From the minute I picked up Flash Point, I did not want to put it down (even though I had to, to go and be an adult for the day - boooo!). It is a fantastic stand-alone novel, and I look forward to reading whatever Ms Blaine has for us next!

Woohooooo we are back in Elle Kennedy's hockey hottie world, and I couldn't be happier!

It seems an age since we have been here!

I love a fake romance story - we always know that it is going to be real by the end, it is just the journey we are taken on that is the fun.

Conor and Taylor's tale is the typical frat/sorority dare and follow through to stick it to the person who makes the bet. I love the way Conor is all in from the start, and the spark and flirtations between the pair.

But gees, the thing that I wasn't such a fan of in this book was Taylor. I like the story just find, but I hated her "why is he with me blah blah blah" call the wambumlance stuff. I get it girl, I am no model thin woman either, but holy heck if I heard you one more time saying stuff to Conor about it, I was going to reach into my Kindle and slap some sense into you. He shows you over and over, and your insecurities were just OTT and ridiculous *rant over*

Conor also had his issues, but he eventually dealt with them like the (young) adult he is. However then he was all "she's too good for me" ridiculousness and I may have facepalmed!

It sounds like I didn't like this story, but that's not true. I did like it, I just disliked their stupidness at times. I guess that is also why I read very little NA these days, as I cannot deal with the immaturity of a lot of the NA characters, as I am an old fart!

But I would still read the takeaway menu if Elle Kennedy wrote it.

I loved seeing bits of the previous Briar U characters and where they are at now. I want more.

Candy likes control, and the holds on to that control with an iron fist. It is not a bad kind of control though, so it didn't make her unlikable.

Trent was her tormenter through high school and when he falls back into her life, she is not a happy camper! And she lets him know it.

And I loved it.

I adored the way they circled around each other, and the way they saw how they had both changed since high school. They have real issues to deal with now, and they need to lean on each other to deal - adulting for the win!

I need to get to Candy's bar. I need to meet all the weird (in a great way) and wonderful patrons of Hard Candy - particularly Kevin!

I am glad they gave their unlikely romance a chance, and could move on from their pasts.

We are back in Melissa Foster-land with the first book in the Dark Knights of Bayside series. All Ms Foster's series interweave, so you will know some of these characters already.

Justin Wicked has been after Chloe Mallery for a long, long time. However she had friend-zoned him for such a long time, it was hard for her to relinquish that relationship for a new one. She has a preconcieved notion of what her ideal man should be, since she has never had that kind of man in her life. I hated Chloe's mother on her behalf for the childhood.

Family is not blood, but the people you surround yourself with, and the Wickeds are the kind of family we all need in our lives.

As always, Ms Foster has given us wonderfully developed characters. I was drawn into Justin and Chloe's story and wanted, no needed them to find their way to more

However, I did find that to me, this story did drag at times. The first half of the book was great, however the second half was a lot of nothing really happening but the happiness of them - I get this is a great thing, it just was drawn out a little too long for me, so it took me a few day to finish reading this story, when I usually don't want to put a Melissa Foster book down.

I do need to print out a family tree for MF books, as they all interweave and it doesn't take much t confuzzle me!

As always, at the end of reading I was eager for the next MF story. Until next time, Miss Foster.

I am really into Australian historical tales at the moment, and Darry Fraser is quickly becoming a favourite in the genre.

Elsa Goody, Bushranger is a story of strong, independent and fierce women in a time when this was not the norm. When events strike the Goody family, Elsa and her sister Rosie go on a 19th century road trip full of tensions, mystery and a bit of mayhem at times. These ladies are full of grit and determination.

Ms Fraser has drawn on important issues at the time - the suffragette movement is a big part of Elsa's tale.

Elsa is the kind of woman we should all be. Strong, independent and with a loyal streak a mile wide.

I was drawn right into this adventure, and I look forward to what Ms Fraser brings us in the future.

My inner 12 year old boy enjoyed book 1 and all its farting, sharting immaturity, so I knew book 2 would be the same.

But it was more. Sure, there are still d!ck jokes galore, but there is a maturity to the characters in book 2 that I was not expecting.

I was surprised with a couple of things - the growth in Duke's character, and the direction the story took us.

I liked this installment more than book 1
