Wow. To my fellow millennials - I hope you consider picking this up. 

What a vulnerable and heartfelt memoir, and one that absolutely hits hard. I feel like a big part of 'millennial culture', or at least for those of us that experienced college, drinking became a huge social event that carried into our everyday lives post college. What used to be left for frat basements or bars on the main drag in our college town has now turned into drinking after work and drinking at every 'social event'. 

I think this is a must-read for anyone, not just millennials, that are toying with the idea of going sober or are interested in learning more. This may read too young for other reads, but as a fellow millennial - this is a memoir that everyone should attempt to pick up. 

I do feel like this was a collection of essays instead of a memoir, but either way - amazing. The courage that this took is astounding and I'm glad that memoirs/essay collections like this are getting published. The realm of toying with the idea of starting a sober journey needs more than self help books. This is it. 

Shout out to Ray Porter and Ray Porter only for saving this one for me. Okay, and maybe Rocky.

Would have easily DNFd without the audiobook, but I’m mystified at all of the 5 star reviews. 

I was prepared to suspend disbelief, but apparently 2023 me is not ready to completely suspend it. 

For a man with a PhD, Ryland Grace is a corny idiot and the ending? No, throw it in the airlock. 

This was entirely too long and the writing felt like it was written by one of Ryland’s 8th graders. All of the human characters had zero dimension and those from other countries were written following stereotypes on their cultures. Additionally, the making light of heroin overdose and alcoholism was ridiculous. I understand why those were used, but don't think they were needed. Could've picked anything else. 

I did like Rocky and the space algae. Cool concepts.  

I will now await all of my friends who love this one that will surely be picking up pitch forks and torches to come my way. 

Haven’t read The Martian or Artemis, but I think I can safely mark those off my maybe read in the future list.

Glad I finally read it so I can get it off my shelf.

I want to be like Meemaw and Lovey when I grow up 

Picked this one at the airport bedside the cover was gorgeous and the premise sounded promising. 

However for being such a short book, it moves too slow for me. The long chapters do nothing to help move the story along. This plot is one that the reader is forced to stew on instead of being allowed to move along.

I really don’t know why I finished this besides I wanted to get it off my shelf and had the audiobook from the library. 

Quick listen, but so predictable. While I know it’s YA, it seems written by a teenager instead of an adult. 

The ‘switch’ in here was so juvenile and Lila’s instant hate if Teddy was infuriating. She was so mean to him for no reason. Plus, the secrets they both had?? SO DRY. 

At least give us juicy secrets.
