I just...ugh. I wanted to love this SO MUCH. To me, it reminded me of The Goldfinch, but you all know how much I love the Goldfinch. This doesn’t even compare in the instance of losing a parent (or parents) and the narrative that comes after.
The relationship between Edward and Shay seemed too far fetched because no matter what, no one makes friends that quick as a 12 year old. No one.
I would be willing to read another Ann Napolitano book though. I enjoyed her writing, just not the plot.

Oona Out of Order follows Oona, an 18 going on 19 year old set to play a set with her band, when all of sudden she is thrust into 2017. For the next seven years, every New Years, she wakes up in a different year. However, inside she may be 20, 21, 23, 24, etc, but on the outside she changes. She dates, she marries, she knows what to invest in so she doesn't have to work.
With her mom and a mysterious guy named Kenzie there to help her through it, Oona survives these jumps between years.
I love a good time traveling book, however, Oona fell short with me. Perhaps it's because I felt even as she kept getting older on the inside, she was still an immature 19 year old. Perhaps it was because I was frustrated that Oona could never leave a well written letter to herself to explain what happened in the previous years. I feel like a well explained synopsis of the year would save Oona a lot of trouble. The time jumps were done well but the explanation as to what she was jumping into fell very flat.

When I first read the synopsis, I had a feeling that I would love 142 Ostriches. When I started reading it, I feel in love. 142 Ostriches is officially my favorite book of 2020 so far.
I grew up visiting a family ostrich ranch in Indiana, completely different than one in California, but there was something so familiar about hearing about the birds.
April Davila crafted an unforgettable heroine with some gritty family drama and an inherited family ranch. Combine family drama, issues over inheritance, and a twenty something woman wanting to leave home for a new beginning, you're bound of a masterpiece.
If I could have, I know I would've been able to read this in one sitting. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

This book is one for a reader which may be a lover of Presidential history, but is also looking for more information on the books written by our Presidents.
Not only did this book expand my knowledge of our Presidents, but it also expanded my TBR list because I will definitely add some Presidential books to my list.
I found my favorite parts of the book to be the sections on Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Calvin Coolidge, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama.
It was obviously very well researched and I can see myself recommending this to many friends and family.

I wanted to love this book. The premise sounded like one that I would immediately love. However, the first chapter, which was 66 pages, dragged on forever. The entire first part of the book seemed to drag on. Part two seemed to pick up more and part three definitely had me hooked.
If part 1 had more developed dialogue, this could have been 4 stars.
I enjoyed the mother daughter relationship between Laura and Marie, but the relationship between Laura and Dylan need something more. So did the friendship between Laura and Callie.
