This book ended up not being what I expected. However, listening to Aziz narrate on the audible version was entertaining.

Alexander Hamilton- 5/5 stars.

Through reading about the life of Alexander Hamilton, I found out how much I didn't know about him. I must admit, I've seen the musical Hamilton before reading the book, but the book gave me even more information on the great man that I never got throughout my education. Chernow's amazing detail into all aspects of Hamilton's life were very informing and it shed light on more than just the man. Chernow went into amazing detail on Hamilton's role in the Revolutionary Army, the Federalist Papers, the Reynolds Affair, and other miscellaneous and interesting parts of Hamilton's life after the cabinet that I had not known before.

Chernow also shed light into the lives of his family in the Caribbean, Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Burr. Also, one cannot read Alexander Hamilton or know of his life and family without feeling a sense of pride in how Eliza carried herself through her philanthropic effort throughout her 50 years of being a widow.

Villains of Hamilton's life: I must admit beyond Burr being the major villain and the one who killed Hamilton that I now see John and Abigail Adams as vindictive people who thrived on tearing people down through word.

I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in learning more about Alexander Hamilton and getting a different view on what happened in the young United States from the late 1870s to 1809. This book would be best for those high school aged and up, depending on reading level.

I do not have any favorite quotes as there were too many lines that I could consider favorites. Instead, I hope that you find your own favorite lines as it can be difficult to find a favorite quote within a biography of someone who is an amazing figure in history.

After reading the first part, ‘Fates’, I was sure that I was going to give Fates and Furies one star. The writing style is different than what I’m used to and I was not a fan of the many plays in the first half. In fact, I skipped most of them.

However, the second part of the book, ‘Furies’, completely redeemed the book in my eyes. Mathilde is a cold, calculating woman who is determined to have her husband Lotto to herself. Throughout the second part I couldn’t decide if hated her, or admired her for taking control of Lotto’s writing so that their lives could improve.

I’m very excited to say that I enjoyed this installment more than the fourth. That may be because if there being an American twist in this one or because if of the interesting plot lines.

I enjoyed the addition of commentary from Mrs. Roosevelt and President Roosevelt along with the topic of how racism was still strong in the Virginia and the rest of the south at that time.

There were several plots going on at the same time: Maggie and her crew in DC, Clara Hess in London, some English war intelligence officials, a secret point of view of a murder with further commentary, and John with Walt Disney.

I was surprised at how the overall plot was not muddled from the several different plot lines and enjoyed all of the different views within the story.

However, I cannot help but be mad that Maggie and John do not end up together and are once again split up thanks to Disney and Churchill. I’m interested to see if anything will develop between Maggie and Tom or if Maggie will set him up with her sister if he ever makes it over to London.

I got this book after my mom read it on vacation and handed it to me because she thought that in would be right up my alley, and it was!

Synopsis:

Quick review:

The ending was unexpected (at least to me), and the personal growth that Kate experiences throughout the book was small, but from what she went through you can’t expect her to experience phenomenal changes.

Kristin Hannah truly wrote a captivating store capturing the tale of two French sisters during World War II. While some reviews say that it is too far fetched or too similar to other WWII books, The Nightingale was offers a new of France and the women left behind during WWII. The lives of Vianne and Isabelle will make you want to finish the book in one seating. If you enjoy historical fiction, I highly recommend picking up The Nightingale. Many a time my friends and family were not able to get my attention because I was so enthralled. I plan on picking up more of Kristin Hannah’s books because The Nightingale got me hooked from the beginning.

I just can't stop reading the Maggie Hope Series! Thank you Susan Elie MacNeal for creating a series that I love!

I really enjoyed this installment. It had element of both historical fiction and thrillers, which are my two favorite genres.

In the six installment of the Maggie Hope series, The Queen's Accomplice, our dear protagonist Maggie gets involved in a darker mission: to catch whoever is copycatting Jack the Ripper's murders. Most of the women that are murdered are women coming to London to work with the SOE.

Maggie teams up with Mark (whom we've met in a previous book) from MI5 and Durgin, an investigator from the Scotland Yard to connect the puzzle pieces and catch the killer.

With the return of Hugh and Sarah (really interested to see how this plot line with the two of them in Paris turns out), Chuck (with her adorable baby boy), Maggie's half sister, her mother, and father, and our dear friend the Queen, the Queen's Accomplice was packed with multiple story lines. Something that I love about this series!

I was very torn with this book. First of all, it’s a major trigger warning for those who are affected by domestic abuse. Second of all, I’m not sure if I read this book quickly before it was good or because I wanted to get it over with.

However, I loved the characters Grace, Millie, and Esther.
