» PLOT «
Author Darcie Wilder delves into her life in a series of short blurbs.

This wasn't a traditional story, so there was no plot. This book is not in chapters or sections, rather it's just a bunch of tiny paragraphs (or even just a sentence) one after another. Essentially, this is just a book full of random tweets that are barely strung together.

There is no story, and because of the poor connections between each "tweet," there is no coherent message or idea. We're literally just reading about someone who trying way to hard to be cool or unique, and it's simply not done well. I don't mind people who try too hard to be the shit, it's just that this book makes it seem the main character is succeeding and they really aren't. Not to mention they are so self-destructive, yet they have an air of "everyone is like this and this is normal, so I don't need to change."

Out of the hundreds of thoughts in this book, less than 20 of them are actually interesting enough to give a second thought about.

Occasionally there are just random things added in, and I wouldn't mind them, if they actually went somewhere. I wouldn't get bored of a 300 page book about distractedly making a PB&J, so long as the interjections were interesting, developed, or went somewhere. The ones in this book do absolutely nothing.

I liked the idea of small, easy to digest chunks of ideas and thoughts, but this does nothing.

» READABILITY «
For a really short book and a collection of very small blurbs, this was not an easy read. See the Writing section below for why.

» CHARACTERS «
*This isn't a traditional story with clearly defined characters, so the default rating of 3 is given.

» WRITING «
The writing is bad. It's not just that there is no proper capitalization, grammar, or spelling. It's the combination of them all that makes this book feel lazy and thoughtless. There are so many run-on sentences, and even if there were punctuation, each "tweet" would have random stuff added to the middle or the end to where the passage makes very little sense.

» OVERALL «
This was funny, in that it was cringey.

» PLOT «
A poetry compilation recounting a woman’s journey from self-loathing to self-acceptance, confusion to clarity, and bitterness to forgiveness.

I'm assuming the ghost that is being cured is herself?

» READABILITY «
This seems like a quick read, but it wasn't that easy to get through. It's a bunch of poems that aren't really that interesting..

» CHARACTERS «
Nothing to see here.

» WRITING «
I'm not the best person to judge the writing, especially with poems, but this book didn't have anything super special.

» OVERALL «
There isn't much in this review.

One night, the boy who refuses to grow up visits the Darling household. After befriending the children, Peter Pan takes Wendy and her brothers to Neverland and embark on an adventure.

Okay, the ending was great.

» READABILITY «
This was a pretty easy read. Unlike some books, it wasn't exhausting to get through.

» CHARACTERS «
I personally wasn't a fan of any of the characters. They were all pretty meh to me.

» WRITING «
The writing of this book was pretty good. Personally, a lot of these classic fairytales and stories are dull or poorly written in my opinion. This one was easy to read and get through.

» OVERALL «
Not a bad story, I honestly wasn't expecting much.

Alice, after following a white rabbit, falls into Wonderland. As she explores Wonderland, she comes to discover a whole cast of unique characters.

I was bored. What really happens?

» READABILITY «
This was an easy read due to it being an audiobook, but if I had to read it with my eyes, I would have a harder time.

» CHARACTERS «
Alice is pretty plain, and I know that's there to juxtapose her and the rest of Wonderland, but honestly none of the characters are all that likable. Point added for originality, points taken for unlikability.

» WRITING «
This might just be me, but I felt myself get distracted A LOT while reading this. It might be due to the fact that I was reading an audiobook, but the best kinds of audiobook can keep me captivated (See Renegades and Rebecca Soler's narration.)

» OVERALL «
The gif above was how I was reading this book.

Overall, a unique and classic story, but I'd rather read a retelling.

Might I suggest some books I read awhile (like 7+ years) ago: The Looking Glass Wars or Alice in Zombieland

Or try this retelling from the villains point of view: Heartless

Also, considering that I didn't love any of the books mentioned above, I don't think this story is the best for me.

As the Summer and Halloween season is ending, Josiah and Deja are off to college. Desperate to make this year the one to remember, Deja helps Josiah finally step up and ask his crush out. But as obstacles arise, the end of the season might not end the way they thought it would.

Okay, but in the end,
they didn't have to end up together
. Why didn't they just subvert expectations and
remained friends? Nothing really hinted at the fact that they should be more than just friends
. I don't mind having overused tropes, but making
Josiah's crush unlikeable AND making him end up with Deja was unnecessary
.

» READABILITY «
This was a graphic novel, so it was a pretty easy read. Also a pretty fast read too.

*This is an anthology, so default ratings of 3 stars of given.

Also, I read this using an audiobook, so I'm not sure what version/book it is exactly from (since there are several editions).

» RAPUNZEL «
★★★☆☆
Okay, kinda plain.

» CINDERELLA «
★★★☆☆
Ouch, my feet hurt.

» LITTLE RED-CAP «
★★★☆☆
Ew, what was that cutting up of the wolf.

» LITTLE BRIAR-ROSE «
★★☆☆☆
Lol, the part with the guy was kinda randomly funny.

» LITTLE SNOW-WHITE «
★★★★☆
Alexa play "jealousy, jealousy" by Olivia Rodrigo. Also, "Goldilocks" vibes and these guys really don't know how to kill people. You'd think after several attempts, you'd check for life or make sure your methods are . Lol, just stab her. Also that ending was so random.

» RUMPELSTILSKIN «
★★☆☆☆
I'm gonna be honest, I only listened to this audiobook for Jim Dale. Clap and a half for his performance.

On a different note, in elementary school I had to do mock trial with this story and I was on Rumplestilskin's defense. That was the day I started to defend villains, and now I'm a terrible person.

» THE SHOES THAT WERE DANCED TO PIECES «
★★☆☆☆
Honestly, I don't know what this story was about.

» A RIDDLING TALE «
★★☆☆☆
This was so short. Also, it was literally just a riddle, not a story/tale.

» THE TWELVE BROTHERS «
★★☆☆☆
Well that was a rollercoaster.

» THE WHITE SNAKE «
★★☆☆☆
What is with stories that are basically finding needles in haystacks?

» THE ELVES «
★★★☆☆
"The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs" vibes, but happier.

» THE SIX SWANS «
★★☆☆☆
This was the same story as "The Twelve Brothers," but with a different set up.

» THE TWELVE HUNTSMAN «
★★☆☆☆
"The Princess and the Pea" vibes. What was that key analogy lol.

» THE GOOSE-GIRL «
★★☆☆☆
What. Why did she let herself get walked over like that.

» SWEET PORRIDGE «
★★☆☆☆
What. Lol.

» THE GOLDEN GOOSE «
★★☆☆☆
Uhh... I don't know what happened here.

» EVE'S VARIOUS CHILDREN «
★★☆☆☆
Um... some of the children got WAY better deals.

» SNOW-WHITE AND ROSE-RED «
★★☆☆☆
Okay.

» THE FROG-KING, OR IRON HENRY «
★★★☆☆
That princess, what a baby... and a bitch. You made a deal. The king was right. On another note, what was with Henry? Why was he in the story? What was the reason?

» THE SEA-HARE «
★★☆☆☆
Damn. This was very similar to "The White Snake."

» HANSEL AND GRETEL «
★★★☆☆
That is one bad mom. But this version of Hansel and Gretel were smarter... at first. But this story really relies on stupid people.

» PLOT «
After being passed over for a promotion by Othello, Iago sets on a mission to ruin Othello's life.

I went into this book kind of blind, and that was good. I'm not sure if I would've like this book if I had known what the man plot was about. (For some reason, if I know too much about the book before reading, I tend to like it less.)

» READABILITY «
The audiobook make this a great read. It was interesting, fast paced, and exciting.

» CHARACTERS «
Shoutout to the audiobook narrator for Iago (link to the audiobook on YouTube), he really put his all in this character and the book was only better for it. Finally we get a villain character that is actually smart and logical.

At the beginning I admired most of the characters for being really logical and strong-willed, but after awhile, only Iago really stays that way. While the other characters became easily manipulated, some had good reasonings. Overall though, the characters in this were actually smart, unlike Romeo, Juliet, Macbeth, and all the other Shakespeare characters.

Lowkey I was hoping
Desdemona would survive, but at least Cassio does
.

» WRITING «
Out of all of William Shakespeare's works, this was by far the best. It was captivating, intriguing, and interesting. I had a lot of fun trying to predict what would happen, and if Iago would ever get caught/punished.

» OVERALL «
I was very shocked to like this. After Macbeth, I didn't think I would like another one of William Shakespeare's works.

» PLOT «
Following the death of her sister, Callie is forced to revisit her aunt's home, where her sister died. As Callie's nights are filled with nightmares and odd occurrences, Callie thinks she is being haunted by her sister. Desperate to escape the night that her sister died, Callie has to figure out whether she wants to reopen old wounds and face the truth.

The story is believable, but the main character was pretty unlikable. There was a lot of things that happened in this book that should've really have happened. For example, (view spoiler). It was so clear that Callie was just jealous of her sister and kept secrets from her to feel superior or good about herself.

» READABILITY «
This wasn't the easiest for me to read. The paranormal/ghost stuff isn't my thing.

» CHARACTERS «
The characters were a pleasant surprise. Aside from the main character, everyone else was level-headed and quite normal. No one was too annoying or unrealistic.

As for the main character, she was really annoying. Her motives for keeping her secrets weren't really that understandable. For someone who claims to have her sister's back, she keeps a lot from her, and for no real important reason. Callie really doesn't care about anyone but herself and that makes her really unlikeable.

» WRITING «
The writing was ok, nothing special.

» OVERALL «
This was both cute and underwhelming.
