This book series hooked me as a forever fan of Alisha Rai, and started my full-on obsession with reading smut. I will never be the same again and for that, I am eternally grateful.

This is a fantastic debut novel from Andie Burke. Our main characters are well-developed, and their quirks make them even more loveable. There is depth and heart in this book, and even as a notorious hater of feeling feelings (I'm working on it in therapy, okay!) I still absolutely loved the journey this book took me on! I appreciate the discussions of anxiety in the book and how each character deals with it differently but is open and understanding of struggles. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love, and I can't wait to see what else Andie Burke writes in the future!

I liked this book of the series way better than the first one and now I get the hype. I didn't think I was into the billionaire alphahole type, but now you've got me questioning things.
There wasn't enough in this to be considered a romance to me. Instead, it was more ChicLit with a splash of romance. The story was okay, but pretty forgettable and the characters all felt just very middle-class white with not a lot of depth.

There wasn't really anything I didn't already know in the book, but it was a humor-filled reminder to get out of my own damn way.
The Holiday is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I feel slightly biased as I review this one but I just didn't LOVE this book. I loved the idea of an LGBTQIA+ retelling of the movie and I appreciated a lot of what happened in the book but I think it was trying to do too much and so I never really connected. Things felt a bit too rushed and since there were two different stories inside this one book it felt like we missed a lot of the depth that I get from other romance novels. Nevertheless, it is an adorable LGBTQIA+ Holiday book if you're looking for a quick read.
I really want to like historical romance (especially FEMINIST romance!), but man I was just so bored with this book. I listened to it, and I wonder if my brain would do better reading it. I had a really hard time staying focused to it.
The whole royalty plus poor person trope isn't a favorite of mine, but I tend to branch out for holiday books. There is something about Christmas that just makes it okay and fun for me to read about princesses. *shrug*
Anyways, this book was cute with a little bit of spice. I'd probably call it like 2.5 spice. There's a bit of description and tension but it's definitely not to the descriptive level of Tessa Bailey (which I LOVE).
If you're in the market for a Christmas Princess with the standard "Oh no, my dad won't let me marry a pauper" then this is the book for you.
Quotes:
“If you want someone to listen to you, don’t yell. Yelling signals desperation. Speak quietly, but firmly. You will be heard.”
“I, for one, think that enthusiasm over topics one cares about is an attractive trait…. You might call it nerdiness, but people with passion are much more interesting than those without it.”
"I might be a poor schlub from the Bronx, but I know how to fuck."

This is one of those books where I appreciate the story and the effort of the writer but I just didn't fall in love. There were a lot of weird time jumps that threw me off and then the flow of the story just wouldn't let me get super invested. I kept reading because there were enough moments when my heart swelled or I made ridiculous facial expressions based on things the characters said or did.
FYI - This is totally closed door. There's no spice at all.
