This book was much better done than I expected! Having Jinger read the audiobook added a level to the experience that I appreciated. As a Christian who has spent lots of time deconstructing or “disentangling” my faith, as Jinger would say, this book means a lot to me.

I grew up in a church world theologically adjacent to fundamental Christianity, like the IBLP and Duggars. I read I Kissed Dating Goodbye and debated whether I’d please God more if I only wore skirts to be more modest. Once I went to college, I found different churches that didn’t share any of these thoughts and began wondering if my faith experience up to that point was lacking. Jinger’s thoughts echoed my own and her story is an important one to hear. I love how she has backed it with Scripture as a reminder to people who grew up in this theology that is *isn’t* biblical. 

My only wish is that Jinger could have labeled this as deconstruction, which I believe it to be, instead of just disentanglement. We can deconstruct without losing our faith, and the Church needs to be engaging this conversation in that way. We can deconstruct unhealthy and inaccurate parts of our theology without losing God and the good parts of what we know to be true.  

This book was an entertaining read, but took almost half of the book just to set the scene. This wasn’t a long book, but could easily have been cut in half. My husband and I listened to this together on audio, but I think it would have been more enjoyable/felt faster if we read a physical copy. All-in-all, this didn’t go where I expected, but that made for a different and more entertaining listen than I anticipated. 

This book was incredibly good, especially as an audiobook. It was narrated mainly by the author, but with a full cast and sound effects that really brought this to life. The conversations that Jacob shares are important for us to hear from people (especially women) of color. I'm half-Southeast Asian, and some of these conversations made me feel so seen. Others helped me gain understanding of moments that I will never have to experience as someone even half white. 

I've never read a memoir formatted this way, but I know that because of this book I absolutely will find one again. It allowed you to feel her feelings instead of just hear her process through them. I already know I"m going to tell everyone I know about this book because Jacob shares her story so well.

This book was laugh-out-loud funny! Every element of this book was so fun. I conned my husband into listening to this with me on a couple long drives we had, and he absolutely loved it, too. I really liked that the romance was almost more of a side plot to everything else that was going on. The friendships were so interesting to read about and the magic/world building sucked us in from the first chapter. 

This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, so my husband is mad that this book just came out and he has such a long wait for a sequel. 😂

I’m NOT a historical romance girlie, but  this made me think otherwise! I was absolutely drawn into this story of Sesily, Caleb, and all of their friends. Each character felt full of life and jumped off the pages. I want to learn from each of these powerful women who would be throwing off societal norms to protect other women. This book was so good, so funny, so saucy, and so entertaining. I will absolutely be running to read more of Sarah MacLean’s books now and forever!

I really love this ending! 😍 This book was incredibly sweet and a fun fall read. Ultimately, it just wasn’t my favorite thing ever. I think this was much more character development-driven than most books I tend to like and there was a side story going on that didn’t make sense to me at some points. 

 Just run & grab yourself a copy, bc she’s GIVING! If you like sports romances, internet fails, men with accents, thigh tattoos, and slow burns: this is the book for you! 😍

After going viral for decapitating her dad’s soccer team mascot’s head, Adalyn gets banished to prove her worth as the franchise’s media director with a small-town team. Turns out, that team is coached by Cameron Caldani, an ex-pro footballer… and comprised of 9-year-olds. Can she lead them to success or will she prove her dad’s assumptions that she’s dead weight right?

I loved this book! It was a painfully slow process of the two main characters learning to trust each other because each had been previously put in situations where that trust and safety was compromised. Not only were these two fleshed out well and in a believable way, but each of the side characters from the soccer team to the goat (iykyk) were all given such strong personalities. Armas' care and love for her work comes across in every single chapter. The only thing that bothered me with this book is that we went about 75% of the book without Ada and Cam even kissing to the last 20% of the book almost entirely about how every single thing turns Cam on. I don't mind a bit of spice, but the plot went out the window for most of the last quarter of the book and it felt overwhelming after so much tension and build-up.

This was SO. DANG. CUTE!!! Sometimes clean romances just don’t have the character connections of other romances, but this one has allllllll the tension. I couldn’t put this down because it was SO SWEET! 

Parker did have a weird thing for hiding under her desk, though, which struck me as odd and distracted a bit from what was going on. It was mentioned a few times towards the first half of the book, but then never came up again. Not a deal breaker clearly, but threw me off because what grown woman hides under her desk when someone surprises her at her office door?

Fairly predictable and not the best written. But still an entertaining plot and fast read!

There aren’t enough words to describe this book. I laughed, I almost cried—but more than anything I want to hug each and every one of these characters. Few series and authors have made me feel the way Throne of Glass and Sarah J. Maas do.
