Eh I liked it overall, it's really short and easy to read. I flew through it just this evening. I've read a few similar books lately and I'm a little over the whole asshole, overprotective, slightly insane, older brother figure type, but if that's your jam you will love this.

I liked Nicky. I really felt for what he was going through with being gay and trying to figure himself out in such a hateful small town. Kade was just your usual asshole possessive MC who gets to sleep around while not letting anyone touch his obsession, aka the other MC. A little hypocritical thing I've noticed as a theme in these books that's irking me but I digress. He truly cared about Nicky and Nicky's happiness, and I am glad that Nicky had Kade in his corner. Also they were the least subtle secret romance I've ever read, always touching and such. And I wish they would stop calling each other "brother" all the time.

The plot got wild at the end. I've read a good amount of crazy dark romances but I'm not sure why this one felt like excessive. They were all bad people for sure and deserved to be punished, but it was just a lot. And honestly that last chapter at the end from Preston's POV was not for me. I'm glad he got what was coming for him, but I didn't need to read the details.

I can see why this is a popular read, and it has a lot of elements that make a good story. I just don't think it really worked for me right now. I am interested in the author's series she's writing so I might check that out!

Okay this was just wild. I liked it, but it was over the top and predictable.

This is the third book in the Westbrook Elite series, and it's said it can be read as a stand-alone. I didn't read the first two, because I'm not feeling MF these days, and I think that was an issue. They mention events that has happened previously, including interactions between Max and Wes. I just feel like I missed a part of their story. Also a lot happens in their past that they talk about, but they seem to be important events. It was just one of those stories where I felt dropped halfway into it.

I liked Max and Wes. Max is a very stereotypical possessive, tattooed, motorcycle riding guy. Wes is a sweetheart pining away for his brother's best friend, but who is also like a brother to both of them. I'm always down for a possessive guy (in fiction) and Max is next level. I wish we knew more about the beginning of Max watching out for Wes when Win first left, because I bet it was entertaining. There's lots of angst and pining and Max being a dummy but once their together it's pretty sweet and cute. And such good spice.

So the plot outside of the relationship. It was very dramatic and kind of overused themes. Like a crazy "if I can't have him, no one can" blow up, which is seen a mile away, and homophobic teammate who's an asshole. It wasn't anything new. That being said it was pretty entertaining, in a "this is crazy and dumb but I'm still reading all 400+ pages" way. I plan to read Wish because I'm interested in Win's story, but I might have to come back to it after this.

This book had a few things I don't normally like and shouldn't have worked for me, but I absolutely loved it. Once I started I couldn't put it down and I already know I'm going to be rereading this multiple times. If you don't like cheating at all, it's not for you. Both MCs are married and have kids, but it's their story to tell.

Kieran and Bennett meet on a daily commuter train to Seattle, and form a friendship as an escape of their struggles in their every day life. I won't go into details but they both have a lot to deal with, and their friendship starts as the one thing that's just for them.

This is solely from Bennett's POV, and he's so complex that I didn't even mind that we didn't get Kieran's. It's a long, angsty ride and I loved seeing Bennett grow and demand what he deserved from everyone in his life. He's also the absolute best father to Nate and Jess. He and Kieran both have amazing relationships with their kids throughout everything. Kieran has a lot to work through with his family and his own feelings, but I'm so proud of him at the end. These two are soulmates, and I love reading about that kind of love. They have an undeniable connection and their lives just fit in every way. There were so many low key swoony moments and I'm a sucker for those.

The whole story takes place over 5 years, from the very first time they just see each on the train to the end. There are times that weeks or months go by, but I didn't feel like I missed anything. It seemed very realistic because they have these crazy busy lives with jobs and their kids.

I just loved their story not only for their relationship but for their individual growth. It was a long journey for them but the both came out of it stronger and happier and I just loved it.

A spicy rockstar/socialite opposites attract romance. I liked this story, it was a quick and easy read with some fun spice.

Rowan was so cute! I love characters like him that are a little more chaotic but also light hearted and just nice. Caspian grew on me but he was an absolute asshole in the first part of the book. I'm not sure when their relationship took a turn for him and he started actually liking Rowan, honestly. There's a lot of spice, and it's good and fun but I missed their connection on a more emotional level. I think I just wanted him to be as obviously obsessed with Rowan as Rowan was with him, which wasn't Caspian's personality at all. When Caspian wasn't thinking of how annoyed he was with Rowan and actually accepted his friendship - for little bursts of times - I really liked seeing how their opposite personalities worked. Rowan was such a sweetheart and exactly what Caspian needed to have in his life.

I liked the discussion of mental health issues and positive outlook on therapy. Even as disinterested in it as the characters were, at the end they did recognize how much it helped them. They did grow and learn from their time in fancy island rehab and I liked that there was such a positive change for both of them. I wanted to see that continue a little more in the resolution, like mentions of therapy and treatments. It's obvious that Caspian's mom was bipolar and he was following similar tendencies, it just seemed to be talked around. I also definitely read his name as "Prince Caspian" more than once while reading this.

Looking forward to the rest of the Black Diamond/Unlucky 13 series!

I started off really intrigued and really liking this. It had drama and angst and all the things I liked, but it just went kind of downhill as the story went on. It's very dramatic, over the top at times, and a lot of repetition - especially in the spicy scenes. Kinda sad because I was really looking forward to this after the beginning.

Eli and Asher's relationship is very intense. They are separated after a tragic event and unwillingly reconnect after 6 years. They both have a lot of unresolved issues to work through, but can't seem to stay away from each other. The good part is that they do have crazy chemistry and so I was invested in their story, especially with the tragic past. But Eli's depression and Asher's anger/inaction takes over everything. Check the trigger warnings because Eli does self harm and it's very detailed. I was rooting for them, but they didn't make it easy on each other.

Things I did not vibe with include Eli's parents showing up on the island how and when they did. It was so random. Why were they there? They don't seem like the type to randomly fly to the resort to check on their kid. Aaron was also a strange character. Asher doesn't have any friends but Aaron comes and basically lives with him for a week or so while he goes through a bad time, and is actually an awesome friend but they weren't close to begin with? Additionally we are told Aaron's family becomes their family at the end, but it's very much told and not shown. I wish we had some scenes where we saw that "found family" development instead of just being told it happened. Those parts just kind of stuck out because they were so random.

I also wish the depression was dealt with a little better. Like maybe involving therapy or something instead of Eli getting better just because Asher came back into his life.

I say all this but I did enjoy reading it. I liked the characters even though they had their fair share of issues to overcome. I love some good drama and angst and this book has plenty of that. I'm definitely interested in more of the books in Black Diamond series!
