Wish by Cambria Hebert
3.5

Okay this was just wild. I liked it, but it was over the top and predictable.

This is the third book in the Westbrook Elite series, and it's said it can be read as a stand-alone. I didn't read the first two, because I'm not feeling MF these days, and I think that was an issue. They mention events that has happened previously, including interactions between Max and Wes. I just feel like I missed a part of their story. Also a lot happens in their past that they talk about, but they seem to be important events. It was just one of those stories where I felt dropped halfway into it.

I liked Max and Wes. Max is a very stereotypical possessive, tattooed, motorcycle riding guy. Wes is a sweetheart pining away for his brother's best friend, but who is also like a brother to both of them. I'm always down for a possessive guy (in fiction) and Max is next level. I wish we knew more about the beginning of Max watching out for Wes when Win first left, because I bet it was entertaining. There's lots of angst and pining and Max being a dummy but once their together it's pretty sweet and cute. And such good spice.

So the plot outside of the relationship. It was very dramatic and kind of overused themes. Like a crazy "if I can't have him, no one can" blow up, which is seen a mile away, and homophobic teammate who's an asshole. It wasn't anything new. That being said it was pretty entertaining, in a "this is crazy and dumb but I'm still reading all 400+ pages" way. I plan to read Wish because I'm interested in Win's story, but I might have to come back to it after this.

Read if you like
