If We Could Go Back by Cara Dee
5.0

This book had a few things I don't normally like and shouldn't have worked for me, but I absolutely loved it. Once I started I couldn't put it down and I already know I'm going to be rereading this multiple times. If you don't like cheating at all, it's not for you. Both MCs are married and have kids, but it's their story to tell.

Kieran and Bennett meet on a daily commuter train to Seattle, and form a friendship as an escape of their struggles in their every day life. I won't go into details but they both have a lot to deal with, and their friendship starts as the one thing that's just for them.

This is solely from Bennett's POV, and he's so complex that I didn't even mind that we didn't get Kieran's. It's a long, angsty ride and I loved seeing Bennett grow and demand what he deserved from everyone in his life. He's also the absolute best father to Nate and Jess. He and Kieran both have amazing relationships with their kids throughout everything. Kieran has a lot to work through with his family and his own feelings, but I'm so proud of him at the end. These two are soulmates, and I love reading about that kind of love. They have an undeniable connection and their lives just fit in every way. There were so many low key swoony moments and I'm a sucker for those.

The whole story takes place over 5 years, from the very first time they just see each on the train to the end. There are times that weeks or months go by, but I didn't feel like I missed anything. It seemed very realistic because they have these crazy busy lives with jobs and their kids.

I just loved their story not only for their relationship but for their individual growth. It was a long journey for them but the both came out of it stronger and happier and I just loved it.
