5 stars!!! I adored this book from the first page to the very last. Super readable, and everything about the book keeps you so invested. The plot, the characters, the character interactions, the chemistry between Nena and Néstor……..Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular.
The writing was fantastic, and I definitely will be picking up anything that the author writes. Also Nena and Néstor are so perfect together and I love them with all my heart.

This was a really solid sequel, and the ending set up a great premise for the next and final book. You get to know the characters a lot more in this one, and it definitely pays off. One nitpick, Eva’s narrator can sound kind of grating at times.
This book is so fast paced and readable, I never wanted to put it down. Excited for the finale!

This book had a great premise but not the best execution. The story was extremely repetitive, only to lead to an ending with no climax or answers. There wasn’t much emotional connection to the main character or her family. I listened to the audiobook, and while the narration was fine, I really couldn’t find myself paying attention. I feel like I wouldn’t definitely liked the book better if I’d read it digitally. Yes, the events that happen in the book are horrifying but something about it just wasn’t well done for me. The main premise is the experimentation done on lower class people of color (specifically black people) but I feel like that wasn’t delved into enough either. We just hear about the experiments done on Lena, and that’s about all that happens. Not much interaction with the other characters. Not a good look into Lena’s mind as she endures the experiments and separation from her family. I didn’t really understand the point of the letters to her college roommate, cause again there wasn’t really any emotional connection with their friendship. I feel like the author purposefully wrote the book this way and they achieved their goal, it just isn’t for me. Unfortunately, this was just a disappointing read.

I really loved the premise and narration style of this novel, and the audiobook made it even better. The interview format translates perfectly into an audiobook, and the cast of voice actors were all amazing and easily distinguishable.
Sometimes all the science talk in scifi can be overwhelming or boring, but I found it to be pretty interesting and enjoyable! I think some of that can be credited towards the audiobook. You really felt the passion and personality in all the characters voices. That being said, the characters were probably the weakest part. I enjoyed them, but you don’t really get to know any of them very deeply.
You can tell the author put a lot of time and passion into this novel. Also the ending had me shook. I’m so excited to continue!! Unfortunately, I have to wait for my library hold, but once it comes in I’ll be starting it right away!!

This book was fine. Like the other books I’ve read in the series, the writing feels more middle grade than YA. There wasn’t enough change in the story or characters to make this interesting, and I often found myself not paying attention. On the bright side, the audiobook narration was great.

Kindred was incredible, I truly don’t think there are words to describe it. This is instantly a new favorite, and I managed to finish the whole book in one sitting. It was engaging and horrifying, and I think this is a book that everybody needs to read. The relationship dynamics between all the characters were so in depth and fascinating, and the progression that Dana has throughout the story is so well done. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

The Shining is one of my favorite movies and I heard the book was pretty different, so I was excited to read this. I really enjoyed it, but I did have some issues. I think some of it was due to the environment I read it in. I was often interrupted and had to put it down and get back to it later.
There is a lot of build up, which I really loved but it also made it slow at times, especially in the first half. I adored Wendy and Danny and their POVs were my favorite. Jacks POV was interesting as well, but I feel like a lot of the time his chapters went on for too long. We would get a long chapter of slow build towards a creepy event, only to switch to another POV and go through the same thing again. It’s very formulaic and that’s how most books go, but sometimes with horror it doesn’t work for me and can be a bit of a let down. Think this book would’ve benefited from maybe 40 less pages.
The slow decent to madness and paranoia that the characters go through was amazing. The internal dialogue that would slowly get darker and more violet as the chapter goes on. So good!! Loved the extra backstory we get with the familial relationships they have with each other, as well as the relationships Wendy and Jack had with their parents. It added so much to the experience.
Overall really enjoyed it, and definitely see myself rereading.

This was an amazing non fiction, very informative and engaging. My heart goes out to the Osage people. Although heartbreaking, I’m glad that I took the time to learn more about this and would recommend everyone do as well.
I will definitely be reading more non fiction from this author.

I don’t have that much of an opinion on this. I like the idea of writing a book in a screenplay style, but the execution wasn’t that great and honestly wasn’t interesting at all. I read 27% digitally, and tried to switch to the audiobook after reading reviews. After listening for about 2 minutes, I realized I just didn’t care at all about finishing the book. Both the plot and characters weren’t interesting to me.
