This book came to me from a very reliable source - my boyfriend. It happens to be one of his all time favorite books and I was so surprised when he bought me a copy for Christmas! He's been begging me to read it on a daily basis, so I finally cracked it open and finished it within a day and a half.

This book was a typical adventure alongside the Doctor and the Ponds. It was exactly like an episode, but allowed for so much more detail to be included.

If you've never seen Doctor Who, it's a very Sci-Fi themed show with a lot of time travel, aliens, future/past characters, interpretations of famous people from the past, and overall just wonderful goodness.

This book included so many of the amazing pieces of the Doctor Who puzzle that just makes fans of the show smile, it was absolutely worth the read.

Well...I had heard some amazing things but unfortunately this book just didn't live up to them.

The entire thing is written in letters, emails, notes, instant messaging and the like which made for it to be a very fast read, which was realistically (and unfortunately) my favorite part about the whole book.

To start, I HATE books where literally lack of communication is the issue. Characters, you're capable of talking. You're readers want dialogue and conversation to happen between you. Please don't just sit there and pretend like everything is fine and dandy to the person you're having issues with, only to complain about it to everyone else.

UGH this book made me want to shake the characters and I couldn't. I actually had to put the book down at points because I was so frustrated with their life choices. I actually said, out loud, "WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING?" at least 4 times throughout reading.

I don't know, this was just not my cup of tea.

This was one of my favorite books to reread when I was around 10 or 11 years old. I haven't read it since then, but I figured I'd give it another go in my now 20s and see what I thought of it as an adult.

This has got to be one of the cutest books. It reminded me of the same type of fairytale style as the movie The Princess Bride.

The characters were funny and made me smile along with them as they went about their adventure, and I loved that the story encompassed so many genres, including comedy, romance and adventure.
I absolutely loved Christian and Marigold and all the supporting characters as I thought even though they never went into detail, you could picture them just as clearly as the main two.

I love that the animals were almost personified and given a role in the book as more than just being a cute little companion.

I adored this reread and am thrilled I gave it another chance as an adult. Now I have to go find the sequel!

I read this book as required summer reading while going from 5th grade into 6th grade. That was 12 years ago, and I had absolutely no memory of what this book was about until I decided I ought to reread it.

I almost want to say this isn't a children's book. Reading it feels like an adult talking about the life of a child, which is true. But it also allows a young reader to really be able to insert themselves into the story and be the one the author is talking about.

I loved this. I loved this to the moon and back. There was such a good message that I missed when I was 10-years-old, and this was so beautifully written. I'm so glad I decided to spend the time to reread it (and it was a quick read being at a lower reading level!). I'll definitely be adding this to my favorites list.

This was required reading for my US History course and though it was interesting to hear about such a changing time period in American History from such a unique source, I personally found it very difficult to get through.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but Nathan's story is one that I really enjoyed.

This was one of my "cover buys" that was too pretty to pass up and I am just so glad that I grabbed it.

This fantasy/supernatural themed plot was absolutely fantastic and I cannot wait to read the second one.

This wasn't the kind of read that I felt connected to the characters at all, but it felt almost as though I wasn't supposed to be attached to them.

The details were so thorough and well written, and I loved the writing style. This was not a book that was very high up on my massive tbr but I'm so glad to have read it when I did.

I am also so grateful to Penguin teen for sending me an additional copy to give away on my Instagram.

This book was AMAZING. But then it got confusing. It was....ahhh. I wanted to love it so much but there were some pieces of it that were just a bit confusing or not as great as the rest of the book.

First of all, the characters. I never developed that attachment that I want to have with a character and I feel like I missed that. Neve seemed all over the place, and Romer never really explains himself and Dylan...well, where did he even come from? I never had that A-HA moment of "Oh, well now I need to find out what happens to them."

That being said, the plot was phenomenal. I'm (as usual) not going to ruin anything for you in this review, but I was definitely excited to find out where the plot was going. I wasn't expecting it to turn out the way it did, but I'm glad it went there!

There were points that I felt could have been elaborated more. When the climax of the plot (and the theme of the story) is being explained, I felt it was very rushed and didn't give the reader enough time to comprehend what was going on.

I also, as an English major, adore books with unique vocab words, however this book seemed to overuse them. There were moments I really didn't know what was happening because some of the words were quite bizarre - and they were simple things like changing the word "said" to "avers" - a term I had never heard used before.

The plot was so engaging however, it kept me reading and eager to find out what happens next. This book was action packed and full of great scenes.

One of the best books I've read for school so far. This recollection of the horrors one slave woman experienced were beyond anything I imagined and I'm so glad that it was apart of the curriculum for my US History class this semester. This was a powerful way to teach students the exact tragedies slaves were forced to go through.
