This author is spectacularily good at ripping hearts out. Similar to Tamora Pierce novels in the way that the strong female character takes on the world and sacrifices everything, but x100 emotion. I got so involved in this book that my heart hurt at the end of it and I needed a drink and some quiet time. Really looking forward to book 3, but I'm not sure I can handle it.
A very exciting read, I enjoy the main character and don't find the love triangle too exhausting. It'll be interesting to see how the relationships change moving forward.
It was amazing and surprising all the way through, and the ending has left me heartbroken and eager for the next.
I read all 400 pages in about 5 hours, so I'd say it's pretty good. It wasn't complex and was overall predictable, but it was comfortable and enoyable. I look forward to the next several books.
Less intense than the last book, the inclusion of nuns just makes me shake my head. Also not impressed with the ending, it was sudden and inconclusive.
A great conclusion to the story, though I wasn't as emotionally wrecked as book 2. I love all of the characters and was quite happy with how the story ended. Even if there isn't a 4th book, I think it all wrapped up quite well.
I haven't gotten as pulled into the last two books as I did the first one. I did enjoy them and still feel the similarities to The Hunger Games, but the meta-human twists make it really interesting.
Really more of a 2.5, the plot is good and has a lot of potential, but the language and writing really bothers me. It feels like it's written by a 14 year old, dumbing it down for her peers instead of making it challenging and more adult. I'm still going to give book 2 a try because I want to see where the story goes, hopefully the sentances that make me cringe improve.
I loved how for once there was a female lead who was actually skilled and wasn't just in the right place at the right time to lead the rebellion. She actually had a medical background and the knowledge to study the virus and know where to look for the cure. It was a nice change and I look forward to reading book 2.
