This is one look at how a teen in a state where abortion is outlawed would go about getting one. In this situation, the teen is lucky enough to have family out of state to stay with and support her. This book also briefly addresses what happens when people use laws that say that if you aid someone getting an abortion, you can be sued. An important, timely look at one woman's choice.

Still good, although when this series is completed I'm going to want to read it from beginning to end.

I didn't know the story of Rudy Vrba before reading this book, and now I'm glad to know it. I was seeing parallels between what has happening in Germany to the lead-up of WWII and what is happening today in many countries across the world. It's a little scary. This is a fast paced read with a lot to recommend it for middle and high school audiences.

Effie has dreams of going to a specific school in NYC. One thing makes her search different than others: Effie uses a wheelchair. Her mom wants her to start standing up for herself more, and then she'll start considering letting Effie go to that dream school. But what if that dream school isn't fully ready for her? An excellent look at accommodations and what we can do to make spaces truly available for all.

Pedro Martin grew up as one of seven kids in a Mexican-American family. This book tells the story of a family trip to bring their grandfather back from Mexico to live with them in California. This book made me laugh so hard. My father is one of nine (French Canadian-American) and the stories reminded me of things he and his brother have talked about. There are many excellent stories about travel and being in a big family and knowing trauma versus what we think war stories are. I very much enjoyed it.
