4.5 stars.

It took me until well over a quarter of the way into the story before it really picked up for me. But after that it more resembled the fast paced, cat and mouse, page turner that I had loved about both Scythe and Thunderhead.

An interesting look into humanity and it's actions, the consequences of AI and it's involvement in the future of the human race.

Really enjoyed this series.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one, but it was still enjoyable to dive into the world that Alice has created. I love the history, and the two worlds colliding. I just wasn't sure how I felt about some of the new characters, one in particular seemed very rushed and not flushed out.

But I do so love the history between this world's people and Leora's search for truth within that history and her own.

A satisfying end to a rollercoaster ride of a series.

I have adored this series from start to finish, the Faerie World that Holly has created is as complex and clever as it's characters. Romance, betrayal, fast paced action, plots and death. This series has had it all.

Fans of riddles, mischief, grand stakes and twisted emotions - will love this series.

I received a copy of this through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Sadly I didn't connect with this story as much as I had hoped, I found that it jumped too much from one character to another too quickly, and the characters didn't really resonate with me. They lacked too much depth for me. I was drawn to the story because I thought the premise sounded good. But i just couldn't connect with it, it seemed very scattered. But this could be something that is altered in the final edition. I loved how diverse the characters were though, with regards to race and gender.

Great idea, I really wanted to love it, but it was poorly executed sadly.

A magic sprinkled murder mystery. Shea writes a story as if it were poetry, beautiful words interwoven together.

However, like most beautiful things, if they lack a certain level of depth, they are often hard to fall in love with. I liked this story, I enjoyed it, the latter quarter of the book was by far the best part, but I did not love this story.

It has some haunting and deep quotes hidden within it's pages, which I adored. But the story as a whole didn't make me fall in love, I needed a little more from Nora, to truly want to follow her. Shea's poetic writing is what kept me reading, I wanted the soulful strings of words that made this tapestry glimmer, rather than the tapestry itself.

Sweet, sad and packed full of adventure.

A beautiful story of one brave girls quest to find her Father, utilising all the knowledge of the surrounding sea she has learned, not only from him, but from her departed Mother as well. I really enjoyed the adventure aspect of this story.

This was a slower story to get into compared to the first one. But I don't know if that is due to me and my headspace at the moment, or not.

I just felt that the character dynamics weren't as strong as in the first one, I also love the game of Warcross and as it isn't featured as predominantly in this story, I just didn't fall into it as deeply as before.

I did find the ending very moving and I think the full circle moment was very satisfying.

4.5/5 stars.

I don't know what I was expecting from this but I adored it so much.

Usually books that are heavily based in religion, of any kind, tend to wear on me. However this is done in such an interesting way that it draws the reader in and holds their attention. The contrasts between the characters as well as the representation of different races, genders and sexualities is to be applauded.
