The first 2/3 of this book did nothing for me. It was fine, it was good enough to keep me reading, but I was not loving it.
The last third however, was great! If the whole book had been this action packed, this would have been a 5 star read for me. But, I am in enough now to be keen to continue the series.

I will continue with the series, but I am hoping that more starts happening, getting to know the characters a little more as individuals, etc.

so close to a 5 star, and maybe a reread would get it there.
Oh I can not stand the cuteeeeeee!!
This book is not only adorable, but quietly addresses some really important themes in a beautifully gentle manner. Emotional support and independence within relationships, privilege, microaggressions, complexities of interracial relationships... all handled firmly, but avoided being preachy or forced.
Quick list of some things I loved:
*Drews reaction to being called on his privilege and his reaction to systematic racism/fetishizing by others
*The explicit practice of safe (steamy!) sexy times
*Alexias reaction/interactions with other female - YASS
*Carlos!!!

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I was going too!!
My only complaint is the pacing in the first third or so is a little slow, but it is overall pretty enjoyable. I do feel like it wrapped up enough that I don't have to rush out to read Thunderhead, but I probably will get to is pretty soon :)

I feel in love with this premise. A group of neighborhood mums getting their drink on, baby monitors in hand, segway into a mystery? I. Am. In.
BUT.....
At the risk of spoiling anything (look away...) this was a whole lot of nothing :(
You know when you go into a thriller/mystery expecting a good lot of twists, turns, red herrings and subterfuge? You know, what is expected from a thriller? Welp... don't go into this one expecting it. I feel like there was not a single twist. Not a single misdirection. That thing that it it makes look like has happened in the first like, 40 page? Yeah, that is what happened.
The only thing that stopped this from being a one-star read is the way the last 10 pages tied up loose ends. Not in any kind of gripping way, mind you, but at least readers can claim closure.

Cute, light, fluffy with moments of sincerity. That is exactly what you want from a YA contemporary, isn't it.
Emma Mills won me over, yet again.
