The Wedding Date
by Jasmine Guillory
4.5
so close to a 5 star, and maybe a reread would get it there.
Oh I can not stand the cuteeeeeee!!
This book is not only adorable, but quietly addresses some really important themes in a beautifully gentle manner. Emotional support and independence within relationships, privilege, microaggressions, complexities of interracial relationships... all handled firmly, but avoided being preachy or forced.
Quick list of some things I loved:
*Drews reaction to being called on his privilege and his reaction to systematic racism/fetishizing by others
*The explicit practice of safe (steamy!) sexy times
*Alexias reaction/interactions with other female - YASS
*Carlos!!!
