Not That I Could Tell
by Jessica Strawser
I feel in love with this premise. A group of neighborhood mums getting their drink on, baby monitors in hand, segway into a mystery? I. Am. In.
BUT.....
At the risk of spoiling anything (look away...) this was a whole lot of nothing :(
You know when you go into a thriller/mystery expecting a good lot of twists, turns, red herrings and subterfuge? You know, what is expected from a thriller? Welp... don't go into this one expecting it. I feel like there was not a single twist. Not a single misdirection. That thing that it it makes look like has happened in the first like, 40 page? Yeah, that is what happened.
The only thing that stopped this from being a one-star read is the way the last 10 pages tied up loose ends. Not in any kind of gripping way, mind you, but at least readers can claim closure.
