This was a cute dual timeline rom com. I liked the idea of telling parts of the story via blog/article type entries but found it hard to root for the couple. Im not a big fan of the miscommunication trope and the entire plot is based on a weekend spent together 10 years prior I just didn’t feel the chemistry between them especially in the present timeline…

themes: actor/journalist romance; second chance; the one that got away; miscommunication and forced proximity tropes

I listened to the book from Libby and loved the author's narration. Hearing the voice and emotion the author intended to convey added something to the verses.

This was very inspiring and timely with current social/political environment as a queer person! I found this book via the World Pride 25 book club!

The pacing was off, which made it hard to feel invested in the mystery. Every clue resulted in a different murder, and the FMC was present for all but one of these. There was not enough build-up of who it could be as red herrings. It felt more like ??? and then the reveal.

The first half of the book involved a lot of magic system and world-building (Trinkets, Court system, Mystics, and Unbounds), which made the main mystery feel slow. Everything happens in the last 40 pages, and it feels very fast compared to the rest of the storytelling.

There was also a LOT of fashion interjected into the story, with detailing everyone's outfits/brand dropping and the
enchanted hedgehog that picks her outfits
that I thought would have more impact on the plot besides brief interactions between the FMC and MMC.

I want more of Dovey and Grant since
they did not even kiss or express any emotions for each other (besides flirting), but yet she took great risks to protect him and disregard Elric for the first time in 200 years

I would read the sequel since I liked the FMC and MMC and the magic system/world are interesting!

I really enjoyed this trilogy and how each story can stand alone but interconnected! I feel like Rose and Fionn were a LOT more likable and believable of a relationship build compared to L&L.
The fake marriage, between Lochan and Lark felt forced, even though breaking her leg and moving in together due to not being able to get into her RV is also a bit of a stretch
. There are a lot of trigger warnings for a reason with lots of body horror and murder, but it was toned down compared to the other stories.

Expect a Tarot reader/Circus performer FMC and DR/crocheting MMC supporting women's wrongs with a slow burn romance with lots of pining, touch-her-and-die and only one bed tropes, and decent spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I finished this thriller quickly. I love psychological thrillers with an unreliable narrator and stories that make you question everything, so this story exceeded my expectations. I could not put it down and appreciated the references to Alcestis!

A second chance romance set during a food and wine tour throughout Europe. The two main characters are childhood friends turned lovers, then estranged exes, and then lots of secret pining for each other during the trip. I really loved Kit and their character development. The dual POV felt abrupt since you get Theo's in the first half of the book and then switch to Kit's
right after their first kiss, so you don't get Theo's response to that event, and Kit's POV picks up the next day
so that felt a little disappointing since it was a slow burn (w/ lots of 🌶️🌶️🌶️ with other partners) but enjoyed the cute rekindling and authenticity of their romance

I liked this book and it was a fairly quick sapphic vampire dark academic book!

I wish there was more exploration into the main romance of the book since it switched so quickly from rivals to lovers that it didn’t make much sense how they developed so quickly into obsession with each other, especially with
carmilla’s existing obsession with De Lafontaine that Laura just felt out of place in the triangle

I also felt the book could have been longer/paced differently because the plot felt rushed at the end with so many things trying to be wrapped up

I had high hopes for this book as it was recommended on tik tok as a must read for intersectional therapists. some of the stories read as trauma p*rn and used very outdated language (especially how the author handled the transgender partner of one of her clients) but it was interesting how the author articulated their countertransference and how the field has changed over the years in regards to cultural considerations

also provides a lot of areas to reflect on ethics as a mental health provider
